• Fire Tower (Tuztorony) - The Fire Tower, one of Sopron’s icons, was erected on the remnants of Roman fortifications that served as the town’s northern entrance tower from the 13th century. The current tower’s distinctive design, as well as the baroque balcony, spire, and clock tower with a multi-story onion dome, originates from the restoration following the town fire of 1676. It is also a sign of devotion. On the referendum held on December 14, 1921, the residents of Sopron and eight villages were shown on the relief displaying respect for Hungary.
