  • Liberty Square - Start your day with a traditional Taiwanese breakfast before heading to Liberty Square. From here, you can access many famous attractions and explore the surrounding temples and buildings for a dose of history and Instagram-worthy moments.

  • Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall - This is a must-see! Ask your guide about its political significance.

  • Bopiliao Ancient Street - Step back in time on Bopiliao Old Street, a relic from the Qing Dynasty.

  • Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf - Catch a stunning tangerine sunset at Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf.

  • Shilin Night Market - Try beef noodles, pepper buns, flame-torched sausages, and soup dumplings. Are you daring enough to try stinky tofu? We think you are.

  • Raohe Street Night Market - Discover ingredients you never knew existed and dive into this world of culinary brilliance. Some modern apartments don’t have kitchens because the nation’s kitchen is on the streets.

Night Food Market Tour With Alice - Alice took us off track to the electronics shopping malls by special request. We then went to the night food market. She explained the foods to us. We tried some classics like stinky tofu, oyster omelette and pork bun. Nothing was too much trouble. Alice was very generous and could not do more to make our food sampling memorable. We popped into a local temple and she explained to tradition. We also managed a sneaky light display on the river front. I would highly recommend Alice as a guide.

Great experience with Yui in Taipei - Yui was my City Unscripted tour guide in Taipei. She was a great listener, asked spot-on questions, and shared heaps of info. She made sure the tour was tailored just for me, which was tops. Yui chatted about the local food, how it's made, and the culture here in Taipei. She really got what I was after and made the tour exactly what I wanted. Yui gave me some bonza ideas for other things to do in Taipei, based on what she knew I was keen on. At the end, she took me to the train station and gave me clear directions to get back to my hotel – no worries there! I had a very good time with Yui, and I'm stoked I chose her as my guide. I'd definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a top-notch guide in Taipei.

Taipei Quicky - Our guide Kevin was great. We set a fast pace and seen a lot of great sites in a short 4 hours. Kevin worked us on and off the trains to get to a number of important sites. We went in without a plan and Kevin was great at finding out what we wanted to see and getting us there. I highly recommend our guide Kevin and Viator for a quick impromptu exploration of Taipei!

A wonderful overview of Taipei - My guide Charlotte spoke perfect English and had excellent communication skills following my booking to find out my interests and keep me informed about the tour logistics. She met me in the lobby of my hotel on time and had the day planned out. We used the MRT to get to the locations and then walked. I saw the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial, including the changing of the guard and the interesting basement museum and then on to the Bao’An Taoist Temple. We had local snacks along the way and finished the tour at an historical street with all sorts of local products and food. I learned a great deal about Taipei from Charlotte. She is an excellent ambassador for the city.

Personalized Perfection! - A word of warning: City Unscripted moves incredibly quickly when it comes to following up on things. I learned this the hard way when I failed to realize that signing up for the tour required me to fill out a questionnaire. To give a quick timescale: I signed up at 9PM, went to bed, and woke up to an email the next morning stating that, since I hadn’t filled out the questionnaire, I’d be auto-assigned to a guide and given a more generalized plan. Understandable if we were in drastically different time zones, but I was just one hour off from theirs (or at least from Taipei’s). However, I emailed them back, filled out the questionnaire, and was promptly put back on track with a guide they must’ve deemed a better match named Megan. Right from the start, and up until the tour began, Megan was incredibly flexible and accommodating of my requests, which I deeply appreciated, knowing how inconvenient it must have been. The actual tour was fantastic: I got to see a nice blend of historical and modern architecture, and it was great being able to ask questions about anything and everything! She clearly knew her stuff and was easy to talk to. Even though the tour went at my pace, we were still able to hit all the beats of her itinerary with time to spare. She offered an extension that I took, so the tour ended up being a whopping 7 hours, but it all went by in a flash. As they say, time flies when you’re having fun! After the tour, I unfortunately left my umbrella with her, but she kindly left it with the staff at my hotel the next day. All in all, it was an absolutely amazing city tour that I’d definitely recommend to anyone interested in everything from mainstream to niche tourist spots! Just keep my warning in mind and make sure to fill out that questionnaire.
