Good fun for all! Interesting history mixed with lots of fun activities and exhibits. Escape rooms well worth it too! - What a wonderful day out! Started off with the escape room and it was extremely enjoyable. Our two prison officers were excellent in making the experience authentic. It was a challenge to complete but help is on hand if you needed it, so really good for all. We then had a self guided tour of the prison. Having done our research the night before we were able to pick out a few highlights so made our way round with those in mind. One highlight was the cell from the 1600’s, crawling through the wall was an interesting experience! Highly recommend and will be back to try the other escape room ‘ The Hole’

It we also got to do a self guided tour of the prison. I didn’t expect to find it so fascinating. It was definitely the highlight of our weekend. I would recommend it to anyone.

Great team building experience - A lovely morning team building. Have now done both the escape rooms and loved both of them! Georgina was our prison officer and she played the role exceptionally well. Would recommend

Fantastic - We did the unguided tour which was really interesting. Guided tour with young children may have been better as they don’t want to read the information boards! Escape Room was really good and something I would highly recommend. Staff were really friendly and knowledgeable. Food offering limited to snacks and so bear in mind if going over lunch.

Fantastic and different day out - Not quite knowing what to expect we wanted a reasonably priced and local (to us) day out for half term that was a bit different. It certainly didn't disappoint. The prison is in the original state and will need some TLC but we understand the property has just secured it's future to allow investment. Even so, the experience was a really good day out. The highlight was The Cell escape room. Perfectly pitched with challenging but doable clues and lots of fun for the whole family. Will was our Prison Warden and he played the part really well and helped with little clues when we got stuck just at the right time. The staff were all so helpful and friendly and you could tell wanted to be there. Well done and good luck for the next chapter!

"The Cell" Escape Room Experience - Nine of us booked two 'cell' escape rooms. We were split into a group of four and a group of five. We felt that five was one too many in terms of navigating such a small space and sharing the tasks. The group of four had the advantage over the other group as two of the boxes that should have been padlocked (keys to find) were not! However, overall, we had a really fun afternoon. The tasks were foxing enough to keep us scratching our heads and motivated enough to solve the puzzles! The group of four escaped, the group of five didn't! After the escape room experience, we did the self-guided tour of the prison, which was really interesting and quite sobering. The history of the place is truly fascinating. The staff at Shepton Mallet Prison are all friendly and helpful. We would heartily recommend a visit there!

The Great Escape - A fun escape room with the added frisson of trying to get out of a real jail cell. The 'jailers' Will and Amy did a very good job of making us feel we were actually going to prison for a long stretch, but were also helpful when the going got tough inside...we managed to get out under the hour mark and then had a wander round the rest of the prison which was very atmospheric. We would like to go back and do The Hole one day.

Went On Saturday, interesting place, lots of history - A very interesting place, kids workbooks hard, we struggled to complete, areas not marked out very well. Kids gave up, but of a shame. We did the escape room, advertised as family from age 8! Err no way, even after the 1hr trying to solve the clues and given the solution we would have never gotten out. I was told some days no one gets out! Kids did enjoy but we got frustrated with 20mins to go that we couldn't get any further.
