It is situated approximately 60 kilometers (37 mi) north of Luxor and remains a Latin Catholic titular see. It houses the Dendera Temple complex, one of the most well-preserved temple sites from ancient Upper Egypt.
- Abydos - The Temple of Seti I is currently recognized as the Great Temple of Abydos. In ancient times, the temple was referred to as “Menmaatre Happy in Abydos,” and is a notable historical site in Abydos.[1] Abydos holds great significance due to its association with kingship, being the burial site of the proto-kings from the Pre-Dynastic period, First Dynasty kings, and the location of the Cult of Osiris.[2]
