Excellent guide for the history and architecture - Our tour guide, Hristo was very knowledgeable about the history of this area of the world. He filled in gaps I had been unclear about in the religious history of Bulgaria. He spoke clearly and loudly in his excellent English, making it easy to understand all he said. He was personable, helpful and excellent at pointing out local architecture and how it related to the history and religion of Plovdiv. I highly recommend a tour with Hristo. In fact, we booked another tour with him for next week. Our bus driver was a safe driver and I'm always appreciative of that. I highly recommend.

Insightful Guided Tour of An Ancient City - I booked a last minute tour to Plovdiv with Traventuria. The tour guide was top notch. He provided some of the best information on Bulgaria's history and how things changed over the centuries with other Balkan countries. Although I chose the guided tour in English, others on the bus toured independently with or without audio tours in their local language. The only downside of the tour is that after the excellent tour, to go back to the sites during the free time requires walking up some step hills that you just walked down! Wear sturdy, slip-resistant shoes.

Great way to explore Plovdiv - This was a great way to see Plovdiv with some context. Martin was an exceptional guide who didn't simply tell you the facts, but kept engaged with humor, quizzes, interesting tangents; he made the tour great. I think time is well slotted for most people, personally I could use another hour so I could maybe visit a museum and have quick lunch... but I think it's fine for most! Would recommend this tour.

Interesting discovery of Plovdiv - Very interesting tour. Svetlozar was very knowledgable and passionate about Bulgarian history. He could answer all of our questions. Plovdiv is a beautiful town with a lot of things to see. This tour gives a glimpse of all the city has to offer. We had a great time.

A Perfect Day in Plovdiv with Hristo - Our day trip to Plovdiv was an absolute delight, largely thanks to our exceptional guide, Hristo Manov, and the seamless organization from start to finish. The communication was flawless,  everything was clearly explained, and we felt well-prepared and informed. The transport was incredibly comfortable, making the journey to Plovdiv and back a relaxing part of the experience, and our driver was great. Hristo himself was a true standout. He was exceptionally courteous, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable. We were captivated by his ability to put together very interesting historical facts with little-known stories, bringing the rich history of Plovdiv to life in a truly engaging way. He provided us with important details about the city, highlighting key landmarks and offering a deeper understanding of their significance. Beyond history, Hristo also offered valuable recommendations for exploring Plovdiv further. This day trip exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend it, especially with Hristo as your guide. His passion and expertise truly made our visit to Plovdiv unforgettable.

Experiencing Remnants of Ancient Civilisations - This day trip to Plovdiv provides an opportunity to experience and to reflect on a region that saw continuous human habitation throughout about 8 millennia. This outing is recommended to anyone who is interested in history and diverse cultures, all wrapped up in one place.

Good overview of Plovdiv Old Town - Our guide Maria explained things well in English as we wandered around the Plovdiv old town. She made sure we could all hear her and had time for photo stops and to explore some places. I would have liked to have gone in to a couple of the places, eg church for a quick look at that time since I did not go back in the 1 hour free time. Instead I used that time to explore other parts of Plovdiv like Kapana and the parks which we did not cover on the guided tour. Our bus was fully packed.

Basically a day of transport from Sofia to Plovdiv & back in a big slow bus - Understand this is basically a tour mostly just gets you to Plovdiv from Sofia w/minimal guide activity involved & then back. As in it took way, way too long to get from Sofia to the drop off point-over 3 hours due to way too much freeway traffic + construction, then about an hour & 1/2 of the guide taking you to points of interest then about an hour & a 1/2 of very rushed free time that includes getting a way, way too late lunch (around 2 pm) then at least on the way back the bus (not a van-there were about 25 peeps on it) took a different route so it only took 2 & a 1/2 hours to get back-so about a 9 hour day w/only 3 hours in Plovdiv. Plovdiv is lovely & historic but someday in the distance future if I return to Bulgaria I would spend a couple of days there but at least this was a primer for me as that is how I travel these days in retirement to find locales that I want to return in the future. Finally our guide was fine & nice but her history talks, etc. in the bus were mostly unmemorable as she was not really a high energy person.
