Family hang- gliding in Rio! - This was truly an amazing experience! I waited 20 yrs to return to Rio and enjoy the adventure with my husband, my brother and his family. It was worth the wait! Be patient with the process. You arrive and check in, sign addition paperwork and pay the insurance and video fees. Then you wait for your instructor and a ride up the mountain to the launch point. There are cafes and bathrooms available at the meeting point. Once you get to the launch point, your instructor goes over the launch and landing technique with you. Then, you wait for your turn and take off. You soar like a bird and see amazing sites from above. I felt completely safe. The flight lasts about 10mins, depending on the wind. The landing was gentle and perfect. I highly recommend this experience. I will definitely do it again the next time I am in Rio. A couple of tips- you must be 14 or older. With a big group, there is waiting time and you do not all go at once, so just be mentally prepared for this. The times are "loose". We were there for about 3 hrs on a very busy day, due to excellent wind conditions. Book it now!!
