Out of Bucharest ~ A day well spent - Taking in the very old (an accurate story of Count Vlad) , old history (via a palace) and the recent past (late 1800s). It gives a good view of Romania's history. A good snap shot of history plus the view of the outer suburbs. Our guide had an extensive knowledge and made the trip both educational and enjoyable.

Serban was a great guide - The tour was interesting and was made especially great by the guide, Serban Riga. He made sure we were very comfortable and enjoying our time. He was able to tell us a lot about the sights we visited and graciously answered all the questions we asked him about Romania in general. He has a great sense of humor too.

Beautiful and interesting - Beautiful cathedral on an island in a small village. The people who run it are very nice. It is an actual church so be respectful! It is pretty far from old town Bucharest. I arranged a tour to go here, which I recommend. If you’re here for Dracula sites you will want to see it.

Fun Trip to Historical Sites - We learned so much great Romanian historical and cultural information. Snagov Monastery was very cool. Surprised on how well preserved the monastery was, especially with the art on the walls. And being right there on the lake was so peaceful. Mogosoaia Palace was pretty impressive. I think they did such a good job reconstructing the facility. Fort Chitila was an interesting add on as the fort ruins are located next to a scrapyard, overgrown with vegetation, lots of trash and graffiti. Tempering expectations is a must. That being said it was the most unforgettable part of the tour.

Great Historical Tour - Valerica was our guide for a this historical site tour. We learned so much great Romanian historical and cultural information. Snagov Monastery was very cool. Surprised on how well preserved the monastery was, especially with the art on the walls. And being right there on the lake was so peaceful. Mogosoaia Palace was pretty impressive. I think they did such a good job reconstructing the facility. We were also impressed that he was able to get us to the third spot, even though it was not conveyed to him in the itinerary, which was the Fort Chitila. This was an interesting add on as the fort ruins are located next to a scrapyard, overgrown with vegetation, lots of trash and graffiti. Tempering expectations is a must. That being said it was the most unforgettable part of the tour.

The end of the hunt for Vlad the Impaler! - Bogdan was punctual, polite, knowledgeable and a good driver. He picked us and we had a short drive to Mogosoaia Palace. Not too much to see, but Bogdan provided a fair back story on the building and its history. A later good to know was that the exterior of the building and some other portions were used in the movie “The Nun”. Once we walked the gardens, we were off to Snagov Monastery. While we were crossing the bridge, Bogdan pointed out the Ceausescu palace that he flew to during the revolution. Before we entered, Bogdan shared some information with us and answered some of our questions and in we went. Good to know fact is that you will need cash. Dreamlike Journeys provided a very well done break out of costs, but I didn’t recall it was a cash only location…Needless to say, we paid our fees (including per camera costs) and in we went. Very small, well decorated and is worth the trip if you are a huge Vlad the Impaler fan. Because we booked the tour on a Sunday, the traffic was ultra-light and we were actually ahead of schedule. Knowing this, Bogdan offered us three options: • Coffee shop stop • Private Car Museum • Head back to hotel. We selected the car museum and were not disappointed. The Tiriac Collection was totally worth the visit and the collection was laid out pretty well and the cars were simply amazing! Once we were done, Bogdan delivered us back to our hotel safe and sound. Awesome time for us and would highly recommend this tour if you are chasing Vlad around Romania!
