Highlights
  • Skyrail Rainforest Cableway - Experience the ancient rainforest from a bird’s-eye view, passing by Barron Falls and Red Peak station to discover the rarity and significance of the rainforest to our planet and humanity. Built in 1995, this is the world’s longest cableway, constructed in 10 months without cutting down any trees. It remains the most expensive cableway project to date.
  • Historic Village Herberton - In the 1950s, many relics were being sold for scrap metal, and old buildings faced demolition. Collector Harry Skennar envisioned preserving history for future generations. In 1973, he began creating The Village, starting with Elderslie House beside Wild River. More buildings and relics followed, with most structures meeting for the first time at the Village during the 1970s. Except for the Tin Pannikin Pub, everything dates back to Herberton’s early years, with buildings maintained in their original form. Modern lighting, safety grills, screens, and steps have been added for visitor safety.

The buildings and thousands of original items displayed reflect everyday life in North Queensland from the 1880s onward.
