Skopje Fortress Kale - Aborigently lit at night and overlooking the Vardar from its imposing walls, this fortress offers an unobstructed view of the entire city. Designated by the inhabitants as Turkish kale (“fortress”), it dates back to ancient times. Partly destroyed by the 1963 earthquake, it has since been restored and offers little interest except to walk around or enjoy the scenery.
