Stunning views and vistas, great Armenian food and unmatched personal attention from our tour guide and driver - Ayrarat’s one-day tour to Tatev, offers some of the most spectacular scenery that you will see anywhere in the world. Especially when riding the Wings of Tatev, the aerial tramway that takes you to the Tatev Monastery, you are high above a lush valley, just below the clouds and surrounded by stunning vistas. The three-mile aerial tram ride is literally breathtaking, like being in a low flying plane or helicopter with lush vegetation and waterfalls springing from sides of mountains. The monastery is perched high up on a mountain and also has stunning views. Considering that the drive from Yerevan to Tatev takes about four hours (with no stops), Nona, our very knowledgeable guide, and our driver, took very good care of us during the long rides to Tatev and back, with stops along the way to take pictures of the gorgeous countryside, take a break and enjoy the scenery. While in Tatev we had a wonderful lunch of traditional Armenian salads and foods, more than anyone could possibly finish at one sitting. Our table at the restaurant had a spectacular view of the valley. On the way back to Yerevan, we stopped at what is known as the Armenian Stonehenge, a somewhat mystical area of intentionally placed large upright stones reminiscent of the English Stonehenge. We also stopped at a peach orchard that had huge ripe and juicy peaches that could be taken right off the tree that were better than anything that you could possibly buy in a store. And around dinner time we stopped in a small town that seemed to be in the middle of nowhere, but had a relatively modern food court setup with all kinds of Armenian foods displayed for sale. While the price of the tour might be considered a little pricy compared to others, the level of personal attention cannot be matched and I would do the same tour all over again.
