- Peles Castle - Nestled in the heart of Romania, Peles Castle appears as if it has stepped out of a fairy tale. This enchanting castle, located in the mountain resort of Sinaia, was the summer residence of King Carol I and draws visitors from around the globe with its stunning beauty.
Two years ago, international journalists included Peles Castle, along with Corvin Castle in Hunedoara, in their list of Europe’s most spectacular buildings. Peles Castle is a key attraction in the Prahova Valley, situated in a breathtaking location where tourists can enjoy the fresh mountain air.
Construction of the castle began in 1875, inspired by King Carol I, who was captivated by the area’s beauty during his first visit to Sinaia and decided to build a castle there. The choice of the Prahova Valley for Peles Castle was strategic, as Predeal was historically the border between Romania and Austria-Hungary.
Thanks to a nearby power plant, Peles became the first electrified castle in Europe.
- Unirea Salt Mine - The Slănic mine, an old salt mine located in Slănic, Prahova County, Romania, is situated 100 km north of Bucharest. Although the mine is no longer used for salt extraction, it is open to visitors and features a microclimate with natural air-conditioning, maintaining a constant temperature and atmospheric pressure year-round. The mine consists of two levels, named Unirea and Mihai. Many visitors come for the purported healing effects of the pure air. Throughout the mine, there are various recreational facilities, including playground equipment and ping-pong tables.

- Peles Castle was designated a museum in 1953. It is the most frequented museum in Romania, attracting over 300,000 visitors annually who come to marvel at this unique site in the Carpathian Mountains.
Peles Castle boasts a total of 170 rooms and 30 bathrooms, though only 35% of the castle is accessible to the public. Must-see rooms include the Hall of Honor, the Reception Hall, the Hall of Mirrors, the Great Hall of Arms, the Concert Hall, the Imperial Apartment, the Moor Room, the Turkish Room, and the Theater. Additionally, the royal library, with its rare books adorned with gold-engraved covers and a secret door hidden behind a shelf, captivates visitors.
- Since 1970, the mine has become a popular tourist destination, offering exceptional natural conditions due to its microclimate, which is rich in aerosols. Some believe these conditions are effective in treating respiratory diseases.
