Historically, Pidurangala Temple was dedicated to Buddhist monks. The ascent to Pidurangala Rock is more challenging than that of Sigiriya.

After breakfast, the operator will pick guests up from the hotel in Colombo and take them to Pidurangala in Sigiriya before sunrise. Upon reaching the summit, guests will enjoy a spectacular view of Sigiriya and the sunrise, which, although not directly over Sigiriya Rock, beautifully illuminates the valley. Following lunch, the journey continues to Hiriwadunna, a village where nature thrives. Here, guests can enjoy a trek along natural trails, a catamaran boat trip, and a bullock cart ride, with distant views of Sigiriya. Upon arrival at the shore, guests will be welcomed into a local villager’s home for an authentic Sri Lankan lunch made from fresh produce. Additionally, guests will have the opportunity to climb a treehouse used as a lookout. At the end of the day, guests will be returned to the hotel.
