Good way to see the Thai country side and appreciate their lifestyle. - We took train for first hour of the trip then visited temples and got to see fields and Thai homes. Pleasant and moderately challenging.

Surprise VIP tour - Doing trips in the off season, the fun part is getting a surprise solo trip. I got to do this bike ride just me and farm. He was a great guide really accommodating and friendly. The views are amazing. Some times i was so nervous riding i had to remind my self to enjoy the scenery that i was riding through. It rained during most of the ride but that did not take away how fun it was to still do it. I think the added plus of it raining is that i didn’t have to deal with the heat. But this is the second i have done a bike tour and it rained on us so now it’s going to be my theme travel to do a bike tour and hope it rains on me. Overall the bike ride was easy the hardest or scariest part really is just the start becuase you bike through the old city just getting use to the different side of the rode and bike but Farm was really good at making sure i was good and watching out for traffic. I would definitely recommend if you are looking for something active and seeing a more calmer country side of the area.

Fantastic day bike ride! - Tee's friendliness, stories about the area and culture, and depth of knowledge. The sites we saw were quite interesting. The entire day was a highlight of our vacation! We wanted a longer ride than just a half day, and this was the perfect length.

Fantastic from start to finish - We spent the whole day cycling through the beautiful countryside of Chiang Mai. We met our fantastic guides, Khun Bom, and Khun Bank in the morning at the Train station. We are a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 children ages 9&11. We loaded our bikes onto the train and got off at Lampuan. From there we cycled through beautiful villages, rice paddies, farms and countryside. Our guides were patient, knowledgeable and adaptable to our needs. We weren’t as interested in seeing the temples as we have lived in Thailand for many years and have seen many temples. Therefore they used that time to do more cycling and touring through the villages. They were safe and had a lot of guidance and patience on the times we needed to cycle on the busier roads. We also enjoyed a lovely local restaurant for lunch. We can’t recommend this tour more for a family looking to see the lush scenery of Chiang Mai. Thank you Grasshopper Tours you never disappoint!

Need to try if you like to get closer to local people - The bike city tour is such a cool thing to do. If you want to know Chiang Mai Old Town better, try the city tour! They will literally take you closer to local people and routes that only local people know! I saw a lot of things I cannot see by walking in the old town! James, our tour guide, is very professional and funny! He makes the tour very interesting, it’s amazing that he can make such good rapport with his costumers within just 3.5 hours! He also explained a lot about Buddhism, because he actually believes it. He gave me so much information within just 3.5 hours. Definitely you need to try it if you don’t mind bicycle!

A Great Way to See the Real Chiang Mai - This was a memorable day. Following our patient guide as we cycled through little side streets that led to a train station where we took a short ride and officially began our journey. Our first stop was a temple. Very beautiful, I wish we had more time to explore, but it would have taken hours. As we cycled more, the day started to heat up. By the time we stopped for lunch around 1 pm it was hot. Thankfully our guide did have make some short stops for water (provided). After lunch at a yummy local place it was really hot. We cycled for about another hour and stopped in a cute village area for (iced) coffee and shopping, then finished up with another half hour which had one slight hill. Our guide arranged for a taxi (included) to take us back to our hotel. I would definitely do this cycling tour again, however I would leave at 7am rather than 9am to have an earlier finish and avoid the hot March heat. I would also ask the guide if we could stop more. There were some amazing sights that I wish we would have stopped at, instead we past by them. Finally, the route is easy. Flat and very few parts had traffic. There were four of us on the tour and no one used the E-bike function. Anyone in reasonable shape could do this. I left the day, hot and sweaty with an appreciation of seeing rice fields and how the Thai people live. Definitely worth it!

The trip was cancelled, but we given were a complimentary rental of e-bikes - In fact, we did not take that tour -- the tour operator informed us that »Unfortunately, we do not have an available guide for tomorrow…« and offered us the same tour the next day. Unfortunately, this was not an option for us as we were flying back to Bangkok next day. Undoubtedly, cancelling the trip 18 hours before the start of the trip -- late in the afternoon, at that -- is not an acceptable business practice, as we were relying on the tour we had booked and had missed out on opportunities to book with another operator. I went in person to the tour operator and complained, and they really helped me with an unexpected gesture: as compensation, they offered a complimentary rental of e-bikes. Thus we were able to do e-bike tour on our own, which proved really “a great experience”. I should single out Chiang Mai staff member Bright who did his best to help us out – he called his boss to arrange for the free bike rental.

Not worth the money - The guide who took us was a very poor communicator and managed the time poorly after we had some punctures and lost a lot of time when he went off to a repair shop which he didn’t tell us about but just disappeared for 40mins. He also had no idea how to change a tyre and no extra spares once we had used the 2 spares so we were lucky not to have any further punctures. My partner changed the tyres in the end. One of the e-bikes also did not work properly. They also mixed the trip with people on e-bikes and people without e-bikes and as the terrain was all flat, the e-bike option was too fast for the non e-bikes to keep up with the e-bikers so we did not use the e-bikes which we had paid extra for. The countryside was mainly unremarkable as we got a train to a suburb just outside of Chiang Mai which really wasn’t that interesting and the cycle through the farmers fields was very dull - flat boring countryside and still built up with new housing estates. We saw a couple of temples but the Guide knew very little about them although he tried to answer our questions but his English was not that good and he didn’t know very much. He took us to a basic food cafe and another place for snacks which were also unremarkable and right on a main road which was very unpleasant - we had cycled past many places in quieter lanes. His choices seemed strange. He asked us what we wanted to eat but when we asked what was available, he didn’t seem to know. On a positive, he seemed a nice enough guy and was trying his hardest to make sure we were safe on the road.
