Additional Information

We love this charming nightlife tour! You will get a chance to enjoy many kinds of sushi and yakitori (skewers) as well as classic RAMEN! (on everyone’s MUST-TRY LIST) Throughout your adventure, you will have the chance to try 10 different Japanese foods.

Start your tour by walking through the busy streets of Shinjuku heading straight for Omoide Yokocho (literally “Memory Lane”) as our first stop. Omoide Yokocho is rightfully named as it is littered with rustic food stalls and bars from the 1950s. You’ll feel as if you’ve stepped back in time to the middle of the 20th century. Many of these spots still stay true to their roots, serving roasted giblets with beef and pork, which was a staple when food was scarce after World War II. We will have a drink together and some skewers in one of the most charming parts of Tokyo; it will give you a very authentic feeling of Japan as you dine mostly with locals. (Please NOTE this tour is for Adults over 20 years of Age)

  • Adults 20 years old and above only
  • Karaoke After Party available
  • Changes to tours and spots we visit may occur due to schedules of restaurants, public holidays, weather conditions and other unforeseen circumstances. Applicable substitutions will be made in this case.

Book this! - I recently joined a food tour of Omoide Yokocho and Golden Gai with Arigato Tours, and it was an exceptional experience! From start to finish, the tour was perfectly curated. Our guide, Ray, was knowledgeable and passionate, offering thoughtful insights into the history and culture of the area. The food was delicious, and showcased a variety of authentic izakaya dishes that I otherwise would’ve missed. The small, intimate settings of Omoide Yokocho and Golden Gai provided a unique atmosphere, making the experience all the more memorable. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to explore Tokyo's vibrant food scene and enjoy a personal touch in their culinary journey.

Great Tokyo food experience! - Ray was a very friendly and informative guide who showed us some great local spots within Shinjuku. We greatly enjoyed all the local places he took us, which we surely wouldn’t have found otherwise. He also provided lots of helpful information about food and drink etiquette in Japan. Come with an empty stomach because you definitely get your moneys worth of food!

Golden Gai Shinjuku Food tour - This was such an interesting tour. We learnt so much about the history of this area and of the part it now plays in modern Japanese life whilst tasting glorious food! Our guide Alex was incredibly knowledgeable and fun. He led us through tiny lanes and alleyways that we would never have ventured to on our own. Alex was very generous with his time and in answering our many and varied questions. This was such a worthwhile tour!

Delicious and Informative - Alex was awesome from start to finish. His warm and outgoing personality felt like hanging with friends for food and drinks. He was incredibly knowledgeable of Japanese culture and shared so much interesting information. We are so glad we did this tour early in our trip so we had better knowledge to find places to eat and we were less timid to walk down the small alley ways! The food was incredible, especially the ramen. Go hungry. You will be stuffed by the end.
