- Hokoku-ji Temple Bamboo Grove - The bamboo grove is Hokokuji’s most famous attraction and can be found behind the main hall. The beautiful bamboo grove was originally a Buddhist training area, but today the grounds are densely covered with over 2,000 moso bamboo stalks. Narrow pathways peacefully lead through the bamboo to a small tea house, which is popular with tourists who relax and find their inner calm by enjoying a cup of matcha tea while viewing the bamboo grove.
The best time to visit is either early in the morning, to avoid the crowds, or on a sunny day to see the rays of sunlight magically beaming through the bamboo.
- Hase-dera Temple - Hesedera temple resides on a mountain called “Kannon-zan”. The ground holds a large variety of flowers which bloom throughout the year welcoming visitors. Additionally, the scenic view from the observation platform on the upper ground is recognized as one of the most picturesque spots in Kamakura.

stress-free and enriching day trip! - We had an absolutely wonderful experience with the Kamakura Private Car Tour! Our English-speaking driver was not only professional and friendly but also incredibly knowledgeable about the area. The flexibility of the schedule allowed us to explore at our own pace, which made the entire day feel relaxed and personalized. From the Great Buddha to the serene temples and the beautiful coastline, every stop was well thought out and perfectly timed. Wonderful day in Kamakura! - We had Nabeel as our tour guide yesterday in Kamakura, and we could not be happier with how the day went. He adjusted the day's activities to accommodate our needs and was very easygoing. It was a great day with a lovely tour, delicious food, and a wonderful experience overall.

Great tour for natural sight seeing - The tour was great, Kamakura is a great place to go for natural sight seeing. All the stops were beautiful for photos and was extremely peaceful. Hassan, our driver was very kind and took us to all the stops. He also drove safely and got us there and back easily. We were pretty efficient so this tour only took about 6 hours.

Kamakura in a Day - Soheil was a very nice and considerate driver. He wasn’t the most fluent English speaker, but he did great in understanding what we wanted. His response to pick us up was instantaneous, and he even hunted us down in a crowded street once to lead us back to the car. We got right to the sights we wanted to see and it was a trouble-free and very pleasant day in Kamakura.
If I could change anything, I would ask that the company (or the sights) would provide more English information about what we were seeing. There’s definitely room for improvement, but the tour sights were beautiful and full of great, largely religious, history. The bamboo grove was truly beautiful.

Kamakura trip - This is a quick trip about 4 hours or so including the commute. (The tour itself is about 2 hours and it takes a little longer than an hour to travel from Tokyo to Kamakura.)
The company will work with you if you need to reschedule. In our case a storm was coming and we scheduled for a different day.
Our driver, Hassan, was lovely and polite. He came with us everywhere and showed us around. It was helpful to have someone walk with us. ( we paid for his entry tickets)
In all, it is a nice morning trip

Worst experience of ever - The agent in Tokyo gave the worst service and i blame Viator as you clearly dont vet your agent The vehicle had a break problem with sounds throughout the journey. The car was damaged in front and have pictures of it The agent did not give the drivers the correct information so we missed the time and did not visit the bamboo forest and experience the matcha tea ceremony. I would like a partial refund. This was a group event for my bday!! Worst event of my life. I should have hired a local Japanese company who are efficient. A total embarrassment and will never use Viator again!!!!
