It was worth going to the water city to see how those outside of Shanghai live. Zhujiajiao is over 500 years old. We took very old canal boats though the canals.
The night cruise around the Bend was terrific. The lights were unbelievable and the food served was very tasty

Some times, we didn't understand... -
Some times, we didn't understand what the travel agent want to do.
Our appointment was 12.00am, but we got a call , that we had to wait in the lobby at 9.30am. They brought us to one ConfussiusTemple,
and promote /sell Tea.
After that, we visited Silk Factory is written in the itinerary . Then we visited Zhujiajiao.
The big problem that we wanted to do Cruise tour. they didn't prepare the ticket. We had to stay on the sidewalk to wait .After around
one hour, our tour guide came and said that impossible to get the ticket because too many people it was Holiday . We were in argue,
and the tourguide back with the ticket. But we have no time to do our dinner. After Cruise, they give us RMB 50,-each too little .
Another problem, the driver and the tourguide have difficulty to speak English. Really we can't understand what they are talking about.
The lady tourguide was worst..
The car was good.

The tour guide was great and the... -
The tour guide was great and the following comments do not reflect on her in any way.
The itinerary is weak and the places visited pretty mundane. Too longer time spent at the ancient town, which is disappointing and pretty much a street market.

The visit to the temple results in yet another high pressure sales room selling tea pots, mine cost 200.

I had to beg not to go to yet another Silk or Pearl or Jewellery makers of which there was no mention on the itinerary.

I had to wait 2 hours before the ferry set sail. This is not a luxury cruise and the dinner is a plate a food unceremoniously dumped in front of you at a table in an otherwise empty room. The cruise is easily doable for a fraction of the price, its just tried to be dressed up as something else by the operator. Having said this, the trip on the river is nice, but don't bother with the food and the word luxury is somewhat stretching the imagination,

Disappointing trip.
Guide... -
Disappointing trip.
Guide started with 5 minute talk on history. English was fair, but undertsandable. Material was interesting. After this brief introduction, no further discussion from guide during 1 hour ride to village.
Despite trip being advertised as all admission paid, cost of boat ride was not included. This caused confusion with tour group and seemed to throw guide off balance.
After the water village, trip included a visit to Confucious temple, which I wanted to see but had been unable to get to. Nice tour with temple guide.
All 3 members of our group had been to a silk factory and asked if we could replace it with something else. Guide checked with home office and said we could take pearl factory tour. We had all also been on that. Guide seemed incapae of being flexible or adaptable to situation. We would have enjoyed a simple 30 minute stroll through the neighborhood or local streets. Instead we were dropped off at the boat terminal and sat for over 1 hour. Guide did not join us but stayed in the van with the driver.
Guide was able to get us priority boarding. Riverfront is impressive, especially at night, and cruise is one of the highlights of Shanghai. Dinner was much nicer than some reviews had indicated.
What should have been a good tour ended up with a low rating because guide made little effort to work with us to enjoy the time. Totally inflexible and incapable of adapting to situation. There are several other similar tour packages listed by other providers. If you are considering this tour, recommend that you try one of them instead.

Unfortunately I must rate this as... -
Unfortunately I must rate this as poor. I'm a pretty liberal rater and understand that things happen and can roll with the punches. We toured with two other couples. Our guide Lee, was distracted, constantly on the phone and never was much of a tour guide. We pretty much walked around the town on our own which was fine, but really didn't need a guide to do that. He took us to a few other venues but again we were pretty much on our own. The cruise we were on was with a cast of 1000's and there was no dinner offered. Instead, Lee brought us to some rather seedy restaurant saying that the cruise buffet was no longer offered. It would have been nice to have known that in advanced. However, on the cruise around the port, we saw boats that were OBVIOUSLY setup for dinners. I'd like to point out that again out guide simply dropped us at the boarding area and did nothing to explain what we'd see and was not on-board. The boat was so over crowded that we each paid extra to go to a rather under-occupied deck area. I suspect that the guide is an independent contractor that took advantage of us and pocketed the extra money for the buffet cruise. Viator and TripAdvisor you need to do better! I'd love a refund but doubt the veracity of the providers to provide one.
