The Oriental Pearl Radio and Television Tower is situated on the banks of the Huangpu River, with the modern Lujiazui area as its backdrop and the Bund International Architecture Expo Group across the river. Construction commenced on July 30, 1991, and the tower was completed and opened for use on October 1, 1994.
