Baltra - After arriving at Baltra Airport in the morning, you’ll take a ferry across the Itabaca Channel, which separates Santa Cruz Island’s northern shore from Baltra Island. Then, you’ll board a private bus with other guests to head into the highlands, where you’ll learn about Santa Cruz’s unique ecosystems and biodiversity. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant.
Highland View Galapagos - Post-lunch, we’ll continue by private bus to a reserve that’s one of the best spots in the archipelago to see giant tortoises in their natural habitat. You’ll easily spot these tortoises lumbering around, eating grass, and sometimes wallowing in small pools. The reserve also features several lava tunnels. After this, a short bus ride will take us to Puerto Ayora to board Yacht La Pinta.
Santa Cruz & Sombrero Chino Island
Santa Cruz - Eden Islet
After breakfast, a panga ride will take us to Eden Islet, off the coast of Santa Cruz Island, where you can see blue-footed boobies diving into the water, reef sharks, and frigates. There’s an opportunity to snorkel or ride La Pinta’s glass-bottom boat, weather permitting. The volcanic landscape here is stunning, featuring various volcanic debris, cinder cones, tuff cones, and semi-eroded lava flows.
Bartolome & Santiago Islands
Bartolome - This morning, we’ll visit the iconic Bartolome Island, a postcard-worthy Galapagos feature. We’ll disembark from our dinghy shuttle boats and climb a steep wooden staircase, where the view from the top is worth the effort! After the walk, we’ll take a dinghy ride around the colossal Pinnacle Rock. Then, you’ll have time to enjoy the beach and snorkel, or you can opt for a ride on the glass-bottom boat to view the underwater world.
Sullivan Bay - After lunch, we’ll board the dinghy to disembark at Sullivan Bay on Santiago Island’s east coast. This site features a white coral-sand beach, perfect for swimming and snorkeling. There’s also a trail over a lava field that flowed less than 100 years ago, offering a chance to see and feel the volcanic origins of the Galapagos while observing its wildlife.
Genovesa Island
Darwin Bay - In the morning, we’ll start exploring the island with a casual stroll to observe marine and land birds. There’s an optional walk over sharp lava and uneven terrain that offers dramatic views. Alternatively, you can return to the beach to swim and snorkel in this beautiful natural harbor. For the more adventurous, there’s an option to snorkel along the cliffs or paddle in sea kayaks.
Prince Phillip’s Steps - The afternoon begins with an interesting dinghy ride along the cliffs before disembarking at Prince Philip’s Steps, which start a steep but short climb up a wooden staircase. At the top, the terrain is flat, allowing for a mesmerizing mile-long walk to the other side of the island. Along the way, you’ll see large colonies of Nazca boobies, frigatebirds, storm petrels, and the elusive short-eared owl.
Baltra Island
Baltra - The journey concludes at Baltra Island, where you’ll transfer to the airport for your flight back to the mainland. Baltra’s flat terrain, due to its tectonically uplifted origin, was the reason it was chosen as the site for an airport in the 1940s.
