Excellent - Great tour. We did the extended version. Shawn is clearly very knowledgeable, passionate and well-read (indeed, having published his own work) on Korean folklore. A well-planned, interesting experience.

Great Tour! - We learned alot of interesting things about Seoul that we never knew despite my wife studying here for several years. He was deeply knowledgeable not only about the tour group but also our questions on the upcoming elections, good spots to eat, and side historical questions. Unfortunately no ghosts visited us this night, but he kept up a cool, spooky vibe and we learned a ton about the area that even locals didnt know.

How history matters - Just a really fun tour. Shawn - the guide - was super knowledgeable, took me to a lot of places I would not have gone myself, and told some interesting stories in an engaging way. Perhaps the part I liked most was that guide integrated modern aspects of South Korea - i.e. the hospital - in to the tour so you could see/understand how myths, legends, and folklore still impact the current culture. Would recommend.

Very nice and fun tour - The tour was really nice. Our guide Joe was very funny and spread a lot of positive energy. Would definitely recommend the tour ☺️ Side note: If you book the extended tour and you don’t live in the area just be sure you know how to get home, cause the subways stop operating at midnight and we almost had to walk home 40 minutes. We were able to get on a bus and get to our destination, so just check your means of transportation and have a look at how the buses here work, just in case 😅

A fun time with Shawn - Not super spooky per se but Shawn is a great storyteller and truly an expert in his field. He was captivating and you can tell he’s passionate about his work. It’s a fun way to hear about Korean urban legends and it’s a great nighttime activity. It is a decent amount of walking so wear comfortable shoes! I definitely recommend !

Excellent walking tour to go beyond instagrammable Seoul - If you're wondering whether to book this tour, you're asking the wrong question; a better one would be whether to book both versions and maybe go for the extended option. In any case, the answer should be yes if you don't want to miss out on a great experience in Seoul! We did both tours and both were excellent, highly entertaining and informative, with stories showing different cultural and historical aspects rather than just attempting to be scary or dark for its own sake. You can tell that a lot of preparation has gone into these tours, and both Joe and Shawn are excellent story tellers who really manage to engage the group and make almost three hours of walking feel short. They really enhanced our experience of Seoul, and even allowed us to impress my Korean colleague with stories from her city!

Dark stories in Seoul (history and sites) - Joe provided and excellent tour. Walk was well paced. Locations were great! History and context were perfect for the tour. The atmosphere created and the stories told were outstanding. My daughter (19) and I loved the tour. Total worth it.

Amazing knowledgeable guide - Shawn was so knowledgeable. Easy location to meet up at. Not that strenuous a journey and lots of rest points as Shawn told us engaging stories and folk tales. My friend and I found this one of our top 3 experiences in Seoul. Thank you Shawn!!

Wonderful tour, wonderful guide, HIGHLY recommend! - A group of friends and I recently went to South Korea to visit my daughter who is studying abroad and we decided to go on the folklore and ghost story tour with Shawn. If anyone is visiting Seoul, I HIGHLY recommend joining one of his tours. Shawn was a great guide and an amazing story teller. We had no idea what to expect for this, but it ended up being a highlight for us! It was amazing being able to learn a lot about the history and cultural customs that many Koreans still take part in. Shawn’s presence is very inviting and it was great being immersed into the stories that he shared with us. Although I may never walk into a bathroom again without clearing my throat first…… we absolutely loved this tour and highly recommend it to anyone who is thinking about booking! My daughter who is in Korea for another month has already done more tours with him and is loving it! Also, buy his book! Amazing stories and graphics! Thanks Shawn for a great night!

Good History, Folklore and Sightseeing Tour - Great start to our visit. Good mix of history, folklore and sightseeing. 3 hours of walking with stops for story telling and bathrooms. After tour we were sent email reviewing sights visited and history. We enjoyed it. Highly recommend.
