This cultural venue beautifully blends Eastern and Western influences, tradition and modernity, and features a tea museum, a nature-friendly relaxation area, and a cafe offering a variety of delicious tea-based menus.
- Yongmeori Beach - Named for its resemblance to a dragon diving into the ocean with its head raised (“Yong” means dragon and “Meori” means head in Korean), Yongmeori Coast is a sandstone formation created over tens of millions of years. The breathtaking scenery is sure to leave visitors in awe. At the base of the coast stands the Hamel Monument, erected by the Embassy of the Netherlands and the Korean Foundation on April 1st, 1980, to honor the diplomatic relationship between Korea and the Netherlands and commemorate Hendrick Hamel’s dedication. If closed due to inclement weather, consider visiting Songaksan or Daepo Jusangjeoli instead.
- Songaksan Mountain - Featuring a cinder cone within its crater and a tuff ring, Songaksan Mountain’s peak, which resembles a mouth, is 69 meters deep and retains its active form. Once known only to archaeologists, it has become a popular tourist destination with numerous narrow paths leading to it. During Japan’s invasion of China, it served as a forward operating base and the last line of defense in WWII. The area is dotted with remnants of airfields, hangars, and anti-aircraft artillery, with 15 coastal trenches below the cliff, some of which have naturally eroded and pose falling hazards. The site holds significant preservation value due to its cliffside caves and seaside trenches offering stunning ocean views.
- Daepo Haean Jusangjeolli Cliff - Located in the eastern Jungmun Tourist Complex, the columnar joints near the coast, where waves crash against dark red hexagonal stones, are a natural wonder designated as Natural Monument No. 443 (12/27/04). Standing before the joints, visitors can witness waves breaking into white bubbles, evoking the poignant tales of stone carvers. The scenery is breathtaking, especially when waves reach heights of about 20 meters. This site is increasingly popular with tourists who enjoy the stunning views and the refreshing sea breeze.
- Cheonjeyeon Falls - Cheonjeyeonpokpo Falls, a three-tiered waterfall, is a must-see in Seogwipo. While the first tier flows only after rain, the second and third tiers are active year-round.
- Jeongbang Waterfall - Seogwipo, encompassing the southern half of Jeju, enjoys abundant sunshine and warm temperatures, drawing tourists year-round. A popular attraction is Jeongbangpokpo Falls, one of Jeju Island’s top three waterfalls. The water cascades 23 meters straight down the cliff into a pool before reaching the sea. Behind Jeongbangpokpo Falls is Waljong Art Gallery, dedicated to Korean artist Lee Wal Jong, who settled in Jeju years ago. The gallery showcases his inspiring artworks, capturing Jeju’s beauty uniquely. Its strategic location and glass-walled second floor offer visitors stunning sea views.
