Travelling the land of volcanoes and ice - Had a blast in Troll’s 8-day ring road tour and will recommend it to my friends! Iceland is full of nature’s wonders unique to the country, with volcanic rock formations and lava fields, glaciers and ice caves, geothermal baths and erupting geysers, countless waterfalls and rainbows, whales and seals and beautiful horse breeds (puffins also if you come in the right time) - definitely worth to see them all, full circle! I would say spring and autumn are good times to balance daylight activities and the chance to see the northern lights at night, and to avoid the harsh weather and road conditions in winter. It is extremely impressive how Troll manages to run tours everyday throughout the year, and even operate hotels, ice caves and glacier hikes/climbs and snorkelling etc of their own! Our tour guide (and driver!) John infuses passion and energy into the tour, in addition to his extensive knowledge of Iceland and thoughtful arrangements, which made the experience both hospitable and engaging. He also made memorable extra stops, and watched out for the northern lights for us. Hats off to John! Till next time!

An Unforgettable Journey with Troll Expeditions and Our Amazing Guide, Thales - Before the tour, I exchanged several emails with Troll Expeditions about things I didn’t fully understand and some additional rentals. They always replied quickly, which made me feel very reassured. The minibus we used during the tour was extremely clean and very comfortable. Our guide, Thales, prepared a truly special journey for us. Even though it was a long tour, he always planned our breaks, shopping, and sightseeing — including a few extra stops not on the schedule — with perfect timing. He even took us to some of his personal favorite places, where we could experience and feel the deeper side of Iceland. Spending eight days with the same guide and the same group was an unforgettable experience. I would love to visit Iceland again and join another Troll Expeditions tour!

"An amazing country—and an even more amazing guide!" - Johan, I want to thank you for making my silver anniversary celebration trip one of the best journeys I've ever taken. Not only do you have a beautiful and unique country, but you're also truly passionate about it—and that shows in the way you present it. There are guides who do their job very well: they’re kind, helpful, and pleasant, just like you. But when you add genuine love for what you do, that truly connects with people. And sometimes you get groups like ours, where everyone is ready to have fun and enjoy themselves—then your job almost turns into a holiday with friends who share something you love. From now on, I’ll be waking Kenya up with an "All right, all right, all right" ;) to make getting up a bit easier.

An unforgettable experience thanks to Johann & Troll.is - From the very first “hello” and his warm smile, Johann had us completely charmed. His calm energy, sense of humor, and clear passion for his work made this journey truly special. We’re grateful that fate brought him into our trip. We shared beautiful moments, stunning landscapes, and so many laughs with an amazing group of fellow travelers. We’ll definitely miss his soft and enthusiastic morning greeting — “All right, all right” — the perfect way to start every adventure. Everything was perfectly organized: from the route, the timing, and the local recommendations, to the excursions and the amazing guides we met along the way. The hotels and the bus were comfortable and well-chosen, always clean and warm, and we felt very well taken care of at every moment. Johann, it has truly been a pleasure traveling with you. We 100% recommend you and the whole team at Troll.is — it's clear they know how to create meaningful and magical experiences in Iceland. Thank you for making our anniversary trip so memorable! Kenia

A Fantastic Introduction to Iceland - What an incredible trip! The stops were wonderful, the country is absolutely beautiful, and the people are lovely. It was even better than I expected and I had high hopes. I also so appreciated our guide, Thor, who did little things to make the journey even more memorable like taking us to the waterfall of the day, having us do a photo competition of the little things of Iceland, had us join a group message where we could share photos, and trying local dried fish just for the experience, etc. His knowledge and wit were noticed and made the trip even more enjoyable. He was also an excellent driver and made the trip so easy for us by doing things like booking our dinner reservations each night to ensure we had a spot. His care and attention to detail were noticed and appreciated. He was a fantastic guide to see Iceland for the first time, but not the last! Highly recommend.

An amazing tour of Iceland - this is the only way to see this country! - Just finished an 8 day tour, with tour guide and driver Palli. I had been trying to decide whether to hire a car and drive around, or just book a few smaller trips. I am so so glad I chose the 8 day troll tour. The itinerary is excellent - it would be *impossible* to see all of this in a self-drive tour. The tour takes you to everything you want to see - glaciers, icebergs, seals, whales, geysers, beautiful waterfalls... Basically if you've seen it on a promo for Iceland, it's included in this tour. If I'd been doing a self-drive holiday I would have done half of these things, maybe less. Our driver and guide Palli was just brilliant - spoke perfect English, had a lovely dryu sense of humour, and got us everywhere safe and sound (usually overtaking some of the slow tourists in hire cars along the way). There's an optional extra package which gives you the lave cave, iceberg lake, horseriding, and hot springs; bu tyou can also just pick and choose which of these extras you want. The only downside with this tour is that the hotels you stay in are fairly basic, and often not near suburban areas. Some of them are 2 star, most are 3 star. They're all perfectly serviceable and safe; and all have wifi. If you're an anxious traveller or have food issues, here are some reassurances: - All the restaurants they use cater to dietary issues. I was able to get a meal from every hotel we stayed at. - There's always 1 or 2 supermarket stops per day, in case you need to stock up on supplies. - Each stop is effectively 'self-guided'. The guide will get you to the location, but from there he'll hand over to you to wander around at your pace. If you have mobility issues, you won't have to worry about holding up the group - everyone breaks up into their respective couples or families, and then rejoins at the alloted time. (Just don't be late back to the van!) - If you have mobility issues, you are going to get less out of this tour, and you might want to think about doing a few targeted day tours instead. By mobility issues I mean walk with a stick or a wheelchair, or can't walk on uneven surfaces.

Iceland - you desolated beauty. Truly land of Ice and fire! - This tour was simply magical. Could not have asked for better way to experience a bit of everything of this beautiful country. Those black sand with mountain backdrop and sheep on those green pastures was a sight to behold. Glacier hiking is one to remember for a long time The stays at "Hotel Drangshlid" , "Hrifunes Inn" and esp "Hvita Inn" were at beautiful locations... Perfect September weather. Small but, energetic and fun group. Last but, not the least.... our guide, an Icelandic dude - "Johann Kari" was an amazing part of our tour. wow, did we get lucky! He was kind, caring, calm and witty. He never rushed us on sight seeing but, still smartly kept tab on the itinerary too. His personal anecdotes were loved by all and felt more authentic. We all appreciated his recommendations on local stuffs. [Troll mgmt - He is a star :) .... ] Can't wait to visit Iceland again to explore more of unconventional locations and hikes . Highly recommend this tour !!!!!!

Thoroughly fulfilling tour with the best guide - The group tour is a must for those looking for a full Icelandic adventure. Our group was a good size and this setting seemed to bring a lot of likeminded and fun seeking people. I loved it. I made new friends I can visit all over the world. We had great September summer weather and great timing and even got to see the northern lights in full glory! We also couldn’t have asked for a better guide through the ring road. Johann is a treasure. We learned so much and were constantly entertained. The tour itself is so well designed that you feel as you see everything and with an experienced, local guide we got all the rich details and colorful history. His driving was impeccable and his were stories soothing. He always had great answers to my questions and we never felt rushed or like we were missing anything. I am grateful for the experience that will last me a lifetime and with a such a professional, dedicated, witty and sincere guide. I will be back.

Great tour, great guide! - Gustaf was a great guide! Very easygoing and accommodating towards various requests, including holding an impromptu barbecue on the last night. We hope he enjoys his retirement! The itinerary is also comprehensive yet well-paced, with exciting activities almost every day. Breakfast and accommodations are good for the price by Icelandic standards. Bathrooms are all private.
