During the tour, interesting tidbits will be shared, such as a bar constructed from a jail, the largest screen for sports viewing, and the spookiest tavern and its eerie reputation. Additionally, The End of the Lewis and Clark Trail, the Promenade trails, popular festivals, and beach clean-up events will be pointed out.
- Tillamook Head National Recreation Trail - Tillamook Head is renowned as one of the finest hikes on the Oregon Coast. Guidance to the trailhead for a photo opportunity will be provided, along with details about the trail, its length, and the sights to behold if you choose to embark on this adventure.
At the summit, hikers can enjoy a stunning view of the decommissioned Tillamook Rock Lighthouse.
On the drive down, sights such as the Cove, The Sailor’s Grave, and Painted Rock Beach will be seen.
- Seaside Museum & Historical Society - Discover how Seaside evolved into what it is today and explore the historic Seaside Resort.
- Fort Clatsop National Memorial - Walk the trails, visit the museum and gift shop, and learn about the winter home of the Corps of Discovery on the Pacific Coast during 1805-1806.
- Astoria Column - Take on the challenge of climbing 164 stairs to the top. A plane from the gift shop will be provided for flying. For those who prefer to stay grounded, highlights of the view will be shared. What an incredible sight!
- Astoria - A slow drive will showcase the historic houses and buildings, accompanied by local legends and entertaining stories.
- Astoria-Megler Bridge - Parking in Union Town will allow for a visit to the oldest tavern, an explanation of Finn Town, and some photo opportunities.
- Fort Stevens State Park - Immerse yourself in history at one of Oregon’s most intriguing coastal sites.
The Peter Iredale, the oldest visible shipwreck on the Oregon coast, will be seen—its rusted remains a haunting reminder of the region’s perilous waters.
Next, the South Jetty Observation Tower will be visited, where the powerful confluence of the Columbia River and the Pacific Ocean—famously known as the Graveyard of the Pacific—can be observed. The dramatic history of the Columbia River Bar, one of the world’s most dangerous crossings, will be explained.
A stop at Battery Russell, a historic military fortification once used for coastal defense, will also be made. Learn about its wartime history and the efforts of the Friends of Fort Stevens to preserve and restore the site, along with some of the exciting events they’re hosting this season!
