Museo De Las Casas Reales - The Museum of the Royal Houses, originally known as the Royal Palaces during the era of the captaincy general and the province, is housed in two palaces dating back to the 16th century. This royal palace was commissioned by the Crown of Castile during the reign of Fernando II of Aragon on October 5, 1511, to serve as the main government offices of that period.

Catedral Primada de América de Santo Domingo - The Cathedral of Santo Domingo features Gothic architecture with ribbed vaults, solid walls, and three doors—two in Gothic style and the main one in Gothic Plateresque style.

The cathedral boasts a rich artistic collection, including altarpieces, paintings (such as a 1523 panel of the Virgen de la Altagracia), antique cabinetry, furniture, monuments, and tombstones. Noteworthy are the mausoleums of colonial-era archbishops and the tombstone of Simón Bolívar, a predecessor of the Liberator.

Fortaleza Ozama - The Ozama Fortress, also known as the Santo Domingo Fortress, is a historic Cultural Monument in the Colonial City of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Built by the Spanish during the colonial era, it is the oldest fort in the Americas.

House of Tostado (La Casa de Tostado) - The Casa de Tostado Museum is named after its first owner, Francisco Tostado de la Peña, a notary public of the governor. Its façade features a unique twin window in Elizabethan Gothic style, the only one of its kind in the Americas.

Calle Las Damas - Las Damas Street, the first street in Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic, and the Americas, is located in the Colonial City. Named for the ladies who strolled there at the beginning of the colony, it is now adorned with colonial tiles. Attractions on this street include the Ozama Fortress, La Real Audiencia, the house of Don Rodrigo de Bastidas (now the “Trampolín” children’s museum), colonial houses (some with coats of arms), and Plaza España at the end.

Calle El Conde - Calle El Conde is the only pedestrian street in the capital city of the Dominican Republic and the commercial hub of the Colonial Zone.

This one-kilometer-long street stretches between Parque Independencia and Avenida Francisco Alberto Caamaño Deñó. With its historic buildings, it is one of the most visited tourist spots in Santo Domingo.

Parque Colon - Parque Colón is a historic park in the Colonial City of Santo Domingo, once the main social gathering place during the colonial era. Today, it serves as a central venue for cultural activities and is part of the Santo Domingo World Heritage Site.

Monasterio de San Francisco - The San Francisco Monastery in Santo Domingo is one of the Dominican Republic’s most significant ruins. Located in the Colonial City, it has been declared a World Heritage Site.

Dominican Convent - The Dominican Church and Convent is the oldest Catholic building in the Americas, being the first in the New World and in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. It is part of the Colonial Zone and a World Heritage Site.

In 1534, the convent began offering classes, and in 1538 it became the first university in the Americas, known as the University of Santo Tomás de Aquino, later the Primate University of America, and today the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD).

Panteon Nacional - In the Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo, you can find the Panteón Nacional or Panteón de la Patria, a mausoleum housing the remains of the greatest Dominican heroes.

Located on Calle Las Damas near the corner of Calle Las Mercedes, this grand gray limestone building features three naves and a neoclassical-Renaissance style.

Hospital Saint Nicholas of Bari - The Hospital San Nicolás de Bari, the first hospital in the Americas, began construction in 1503 in Santo Domingo, the capital of Hispaniola, now the Dominican Republic. Founded by then-governor Nicolás de Ovando, only ruins remain today, located in the Colonial City on Hostos Street at the corner of Luperón Street.

Alcazar de Colon - The Alcázar de Colón, or Viceroyalty Palace of Don Diego Colón, is an early 16th-century palace in Plaza de España in the Colonial City of Santo Domingo. Built on a site near cliffs overlooking the Ozama River, it was granted to Diego Columbus, the eldest son of Christopher Columbus, by King Ferdinand the Catholic. Diego arrived in 1509 as governor, and the palace now houses the Alcázar de Colón Museum.

Museo Casa Duarte - The Casa Duarte Museum was the home of national hero Juan Pablo Duarte, born in 1813. His house has been declared a World Heritage Site and a museum dedicated to the history of his life.

Museo del Ron y la Cana - The Rum and Cane Museum, located in the historic center of Santo Domingo’s colonial zone, is an interactive museum that explores the history of Dominican rum.
