Very fun and safe - The attention DE Juan15 super good, the tour was entertaining, if you have young children remember that DE snowy park attractions can only be used from the age of 12.

Not so good experience in Farellones and Valle Nevado, despite the wonderful views - The locations visited are worth a try, but the overall tour experience was pretty much hampered by the (bad) tour organization and not-so-professional guide. First, the operator sold a "small group tour (max. 8 persons)", while we made it in a group of 14 (full van, like canned sardines). The tour was planned to start by 7am and by 10pm the night before we were messaged our pick-up would be by 5:50am (ok, we were aware it could be up to '1 hour' earlier), thus, we've lost hotel breakfast, but, in fact, the pick-up was late by more than 30 min. The place for snow equipment rental was a nightmare, overcrowded and we got no instructions at all from the guide there, as well as his attention and information to the travellers during the tour was very poor. Last, his wreckless driving in the return (at least, not in the mountains!) rendered not good emotions at all...
Other than that, the locations are beautiful and definitely worth a visit. Maybe with another guide tour the experience can be better.

Could have been amazing, but unfortunately, was much less… - So this lower rating is due to both circumstances and decisions/policies of the touring company with the qualifying statement of a substantial snowfall on both days before this trip and that it was a weekend (Sat 8/1/2025). First, I have no issues with the actual touring company nor the driver. I have a review (5 stars) for this company (different driver though) for my trip to Cajon Del Maipo the previous Wednesday (7/30/2025). My goal was to spend a day (5-hours) snowboarding at Valle Nevado. I brought my own gear and all needed was a lift. I had a different company in mind to take me, but decided on going with this touring company instead based on my conversation with my driver from the Cajon Del Maipo trip, which in hindsight I kind of regret. **Be aware, Valle Nevado is at 10,000 ft base, and 11-12,000 feet at the top. Altitude sickness is an issue and I had prescription meds for high altitude as I get altitude sickness when I’ve been to Colorado at those heights. Do your research and know your body.**
Here is a summary of excursion:
1. This trip is not just transporting people from Santiago to Ski resort to ski/snowboard. Rather this is a tour in which skiing/snowboarding is an option. Our van had about 15 people and less than half actually ski/boarded. The other 2/3 rode to see the Andes Mts up close and hang out at the Valle Nevado. As such, this trip is advertised to go from 7am pick up, drive up with a 3pm (leave resort) departure, and arrive back in Santiago by 5-6pm. Cost of this trip was about $40 USD for round trip fare. This part was OK, and not the reason for my 2*’s.
2. For the itinerary, I was the first pick up at 5:15 on a Spanish speaking only tour bus. I don’t speak Spanish, but the drive and I initially communicated via Google translate, surprisingly well, and then the bus driver found another traveler that spoke English and he translated for me. If this were a tour in which the driver does a lot of talking/sharing (like Cajon Del Maipo) I would have lost a lot of information. Be because I just needed a ride from point A to B, the going thru a translator (vs bilingual like other trips) was fine. Just tell me what time to return to the bus… This part was OK, and not the reason for my 2*’s.
3. First stop was to for folks to get snow gear and ski/snowboard equipment. We stopped at facility around 6-6:30am where you could rent winter clothing ($40 USD), ski/snowboard equipment ($40 for full gear set), and get a light bfast of sandwich, drink, etc. cost not included. This part was OK, and not the reason for my 2*’s.
4. About 7:30 you depart for ski resort and should arrive by 10am. However, for some reason, the traffic up the mountain was stop and go, as in some stops allowed us to get out of the bus and pee in some trees and play in the snow. It was due to snow dump the night before, resulting in increased number of people wanting to ski AND treacherous snowy mountain conditions AND it was a Saturday. The police stop and check for chains on non-commercial cars. It’s as insanity and what should have been a 2-hour drive took 5 hours. I do NOT blame the driver for this and he was actually patient, accommodating, and an amazing driver. I’m from Michigan in the US and drive thru snow all the time every winter and I would NOT have wanted to drive a rental car up these snowy switch back roads, even with chains. Our driver was amazing and knows the roads like the back of his hands. This part was OK, and not the reason for my 2*’s.
5. Here’s the rub, and my reason for the low rating. We got to the resort at like 1pm and were told to be back to leave at 3:30, a 30-min extension from normal departure time. Ok, so if you are on the trip to see the mountain, maybe 2 hours is enough. But by the time I used the restroom, got my lift ticket, got my bearings and made it up to the gondola and to the bottom of the main lift, it was almost 2pm. The Maidador takes to you like 11-12000 feet altitude to advanced and adv-intermediate runs. I only had time to ride that lift twice, and I am an experienced snowboarder. Also I did not eat at resort restaurant as I always bring energy bars and snacks in backpack with water bladder. A young couple that spent $200 each for ride, full gear set, and lesson only got a 45-min beginner ski-lesson after having a quick lunch.
6. Hind sight, what should have happened is that our driver should have let us stay until 4:30 to 5pm as the resort closes at 5pm. The other companies that I was looking into would have given me a ride to the resort for about the same price, and they have an advertised departure the of 5pm from the resort, but they are ski/snowboard focused. By leaving at 3:30, we flew down the mountain and made it back down in under 2-hours, staying ahead for the rush. I’ve snowboarded in Colorado, Utah, and Whistler BC, and this resort is much smaller than all N. American resorts. Since I brought my own gear from the U.S., I paid $90 (lift) + $40 (ride) to snowboard on two full runs in the Andes in August, so I have amazing pictures and a story to tell, which is worth the $130. Can’t say the same for my Chilean and S. American friends that paid more $ for a first time skiing experience.
Last words. This 2* rating is partly due to a fluke of circumstances and driver/company policy. It is what it is. That said, if you want a day trip up the mountains to enjoy the ride and walk around a resort town, this isn’t a bad deal. But if you are set on skiing/snowboarding and have your own gear, I’d go with a ride company that specializes in ski/snowboarding transport. As I was leaving the Mountain, I saw some young Italian women buying lift tickets. I assume they were in a tour bus that was behind us, were just getting started at 3pm, and they were looking at only 1.5 hours of skiing so I gave one of them my lift card saving her $90. I would be lying if I didn’t say they looked like models, but I would have given it to a middle aged dude too as that’s what we do in the boarding community I suppose.

HARMFUL - We bought the ticket by booking where it stated that the pickup time was around 07 am. Then we received an email from MTO Tour indicating that the pickup would be between 06:30 and 07:30 hours, it turns out that we were confirmed about 21hs that we would be looking for 05:40 am being that we advised that we were traveling with a small child.
When we claimed about the time NO ONE gave us a solution simply that they “regretted” it and passed us from one phone to another. Finally on one of the cell phones we were answered: “🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱 Unfortunately if you do not take the tour our guide will arrive at the place at the indicated time and try to contact you. If you do not appear, you will take a photo of your accommodation with gps location indicating time of the same which will be sent to the agency where you purchased the Service. We are obliged to follow that backup procedure.”
