Setting Sail on the Arapiuns River

As a family travel writer, I’m always on the lookout for unique experiences that can bring families closer together while exploring the wonders of the world. We had the option to explore the community on foot or by boat, and we chose the latter for a more relaxed experience. Gliding through the three arms of water, we marveled at the untouched beauty of the area. The kids were delighted to spot monkeys, toucans, and other wildlife along the way, making it a truly wild experience.

Lunch was a feast for the senses, prepared by the talented Mrs. Neuzinha. Fresh fish, wild chicken, and a variety of local dishes were served in a setting that was as picturesque as it was delicious. Afterward, we lounged in hammocks, enjoying the gentle breeze and reflecting on the day’s adventures.

Chasing Waterfalls and Dunes

The next leg of our journey took us to the Aruã Waterfall, a stunning natural wonder that left us all in awe. The kids couldn’t wait to jump into the refreshing waters, and I must admit, I joined them in the fun. The waterfall was the perfect backdrop for family photos, and we made sure to capture every splash and smile.

As the day came to a close, we set up camp at Monte Sião, where we enjoyed a “Wild Dinner” under the stars. The night was filled with laughter, stories, and the soothing sounds of the waterfall nearby. It was a magical experience that brought us even closer as a family.

Our final day was spent exploring the magnificent Ponta do Toronó dunes and Grande Lake. Walking along the sand dunes, we felt a sense of peace and wonder at the beauty of nature. The kids loved spotting birds and even caught a glimpse of porpoises in the distance.

As we sailed back to Alter do Chao, we reflected on the incredible journey we had just experienced.
