Highlights
  • Santa Marta - Our driver and guide will pick you up in the morning and take you on a drive of less than an hour to this village. Once there, your full-day adventure begins. Minca is a charming small town near Santa Marta, situated away from the coast and en route to The Sierra Nevada. It’s known as Colombia’s ecological capital due to its breathtaking natural landscapes that encourage eco-tourism. Visiting this place is all about disconnecting from technology and reconnecting with nature.

Here, you’ll first be guided to La Victoria coffee farm, one of the pioneers in Colombian coffee farming. You’ll have the opportunity to tour the farm and learn about the entire coffee process, from its origins to the cup of coffee you’ll get to taste. Sierra Nevada’s coffees are renowned for being both unique and exquisite, so consider yourself lucky to sample them.

  • Minca - Enjoy a traditional lunch (not included) to recharge and take some time to rest before concluding your adventure.

Finally, you’ll be guided to two of the most relaxing spots in Minca. Pozos Azules (Blue Wells) and Waterfalls are natural formations nestled in the mountains with fresh, cold water. You’ll have the chance to refresh yourself in both places before returning to your hotel.

Exploding Magdalena outside Santa Marta - This private tour picked us up in Playa Dormida before heading out for the day. We started off going to Minca and Mayrinka. The walk to the waterfalls was a little cooler than Tayrona but still plenty hot. That made it even better to cool off in the amazing waterfalls. Then, after a traditional lunch, we went to Hacienda Victoria to a coffee tour. It was so cool to see the machines still operating after 130 years! The coffee was very good too.

Superb experience thanks to a great guide - Super interesting tour at La Victoria with lot of explanations on the entire coffee making process. Afterwards we did a hike through the nature to discover a beautiful waterfall. The great experience ended with a very nice lunch in a lovely setting where we could enjoy the scenery. Our guide Andrea was fantastic: very knowledgeable and super friendly!!! Also kudos for our driver Juan, the roads in Minca are quite challenging :-)

Amazing fun and interesting - Marinka water falls was my favorite part of the trip. The swimming was fun and our tour guide Andrea was the best. Lunch at a nice restaurant was included and the food was very good. The coffee tour at La Victoria farms was interesting and you get to sample some amazing tasting coffee. This is an all day tour. Be prepared to do a little bit of everything. Some hiking and swimming and traveling off road in a Toyota 4runner to get there . Bring your water shoes, a swimsuit and a backpack with some water and a change of clothes. Make sure you request Andrea as your tour guide. She was very nice and informative. She was the best!!

We really enjoyed the... - We really enjoyed the coffee tour and waterfalls. We were surprised when our guide, Alexis, said that we had to pay for lunch. The description said lunch is included. Maybe, if lunch isn’t paid for, the description should say lunch available.

Poor communication with Gran Colombia Tours - Rating this 2 stars only because of our tour guide Jorge and our driver were charming and made the best out of this situation. Myself and 3 friends took this trip because it was a private coffee tour and we were excited to see the largest waterfall in the area, Markina. I booked the 11am option since we had a wedding the day before and was not aware of any changes that would have made when I booked 2 weeks prior to the excursion. The company reached out to me the night before during the wedding, asking for passport information and explaining lunch might be later. Which I thought was already poor communication that they waited last minute to ask us and plan this out. We get to the coffee farm, which was beautiful but not private at all. We had about 8-10 other people with us on our tour. It made it difficult to hear over everyone else talking and it was crowded. We were then told after the coffee tour, we would not have time for the Markina waterfall since it closes at 4pm. It was never communicated prior to the trip that the waterfall closes at a certain time, if I knew this we would have booked an earlier time or have cancelled this excursion. We ended up going to another waterfall which was small and crowded. After Jorge took us out for an amazing lunch and we had a great time getting to know him and more about Colombia. Disappointed in Gran Colombia Tours. Please do not book a later time if you want to see the Markina waterfall and be aware the coffee tour is not private. Also ask for Jorge to be your guide!
