Upon checking out from the hotel or arriving at Gondar airport, the journey begins towards Debark, the entrance to the Simien Mountains. Here, park entry is arranged, and the scout is met. If time permits, enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and explore the local market, which is particularly lively on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
From Debark, a 16km drive leads to the park gate, followed by a continuation to the trek’s starting point, which can be adjusted based on interest and time. The trek offers breathtaking escarpments, distinctive flora, and encounters with the endemic Gelada baboons. There is also a chance to see klipspringers, bushbucks, and a variety of bird species. The trek concludes at Sankaber Camp, where the first night is spent.
