Brilliant way to taste some of Rioja’s finest wine - I booked this for my husband, and his dad and step mum. We had a great day! We are all lovers of Rioja wine so during our trip to San Sebastián it seemed silly not to travel out. Matteo, our tour guide was excellent. He kept in touch prior to our arrival, collecting us from our apartment. Matteo was very knowledgeable of the wine and region, gave us some recommendations for places to see and eat at in San Sebastián and picked a tasty selection of Pinxtos when we stopped at La Guidea. We all very much recommend this tour, it’s a whole day and if you like your wine you’d rather have a lift!

A beautiful day! - Our guide was very flexible and friendly. It was great having someone drive and know exactly where to go! We asked for a stop to see a hotel and he was so accommodating. The drive was also very comfortable and spacious.

A beautiful day visiting wineries in Rioja - I had such a beautiful day during this tour with my friend thanks to Matteo. Discovering the beautiful province of Rioja and learning many things about the winemaking process. Matteo was dedicated to make sure we spend the best day with professionalism and kindness.

A superb Rioja experience…. - We had a lovely day and what a privilege to have Matteo collect us directly from our hotel. He gave us some excellent insights into the Rioja region (our first time) and organised a couple of super visits to two bodegas followed by a lovely lunch in the heart of LaGuardia (a must see when in Rioja). He was very knowledgeable, flexible and really in it for us throughout the day. Well worth a little extra cost to get a great experience of what Rioja has to offer.

Rioja Valley Wine Tour - This tour with Matteo was amazing! We had a great time. Matteo picked us up and we drove through a very scenic route and into the Rioja vineyards. The two wine tasting experiences were truly amazing. Such good wine and people were lovely. Matteo told us all about the wines and the region. We had lunch at a lovely Tapas bar with the local drinks. Couldn’t have asked for a better way to explore the region! Thanks Matteo :)

Fabulous day in Rioja - Trip was more than expected. The drive was long but comfortable. We visited wineries and tasted excellent wines shown by friendly, professionals in lovely settings. We had ample time to capture scenes in Rioja at good viewing sites. Lunch was just right after the tastings (with snacks). Would highly recommend touring with Matteo as he was so friendly and helpful.

The best way to see Rioja - This was our second tour with Matteo and as good as the first. Our private tour started with an on-time pick up at our hotel, followed by a wonderful winery tour, a tasting at another great winery (we bought wine and had it shipped home), and a lovely lunch in Laguardia. He even made a special stop by the Hotel Marqués de Riscal in Elciego that we wanted to see. Matteo is so easy to talk to, professional, and knowledgeable about the area. We would have booked with him again if we were staying longer.

Great trip to Rioja and La Guardia! Highly recommend! - We had the most amazing trip with Matteo to the Rioja Valley! We visited two wineries. We were a family group of 6 and had my 9 year old with us. Matteo played cards with my daughter and kept her occupied! We also requested one quick extra stop on our way back and Matteo happily accommodated us!

10/10 Highly recommend! Learn about Rioja and their wines! Super easy and convenient! - Absolutely amazing! Matteo was an awesome tour guide and really helped us learn more about Rioja, San Sebastián, and Basque Country. We went to two very different wineries in Rioja, Bodegas Titrium and Luis Cañas. Both were great tastings where you learned about great family winery history and drank a variety of wine. We finished with lunch in a small town of La Guardia before heading back to San Sebastián. 10/10, highly recommend if you love wine and want to see Rioja. The region is beautiful and Matteo is a great driver, tour guide, and organizer!

Owner changed price, did not honor agreed upon price - Several months before my trip I made a booking with the owner, Matteo, at Azul Tours. He gave me several options and prices. I ultimately decided on tastings at 3 wineries with pinchos for 490 Euros. I paid a 20% deposit through the link he sent me. Every step of the process Matteo was communicative and the prices were very clear. I considered the emails and my deposit as a contract. I expected him to follow through on the tour and the price he quoted me.
Two weeks before my tour Matteo emailed me and told me he had made a mistake and quoted me the wrong price, and that he had also recently raised his prices. Even though I had already paid a deposit, Matteo was only willing to take me to 2 wineries, and made it sound like he was giving me a discount and doing me a favor with this price. Matteo then told me if I wanted to have the same itinerary I had originally booked that I would have to pay an additional 120 Euros, and again, he was giving me a deal.
I asked Matteo if he would be willing to honor our original agreement, as the tour I booked clearly stated 3 wineries were included, all of our communication was over email and I can easily scroll through and see where Matteo offered 3 wineries with pinchos for 490 Euros. He refused to honor our agreement and then said he would take us to a third winery at no extra transportation cost but we would have to pay for the tasting out of pocket.
Matteo’s flip flopping was very off putting, and his refusal to honor our original agreement left me with zero confidence that he would follow through with the tour. I feel very uncomfortable with how he changed the terms of the tour three times.
I ended up canceling the tour and made other arrangements. My experience was that Matteo does not honor the prices he quotes, even with written agreements and deposits made to him.
