A very enjoyable day on the Flower and Coffee Route in El Salvador! - My driver/guide, Wilman communicated with me prior to the tour via WhatsApp, which was greatly appreciated. Pickup was on time and it began with breakfast (I had pupusas) at a restaurant overlooking beautiful lake Coatepeque. The next stop was at a coffee plantation, where I learned about how coffee is processed (I purchased some coffee beans to take back home) , followed by a visit to Ataco, a town on the flower route with colorful murals. There I was able to try chicha, a homemade fermented fruit drink. So tasty! I especially enjoyed the next stop in Juayúa, which has a food festival every weekend. Very lively and fun, with live music! Our final stop was in Nahuizalco, where we visited the town and I learned about the Nawat language and the persecution the indigenous people of El Salvador have experienced. My driver/guide, Wilman, was VERY friendly, a great conversationalist, and provided me with EXCELLENT information on El Salvador and the sites visited. I was so glad I had such a wonderful guide on this tour, and I had a great time! Highly recommended!
