Great experience, but long wait... - Fantastic experience. I hate heights and was afraid at the first rapelling station, but the guides were supportive and made me feel safe. So glad I did not back out. It was really great to get to the bottom of a waterfall and realize how high up I had started from.
Just note that Pura Vida is alive and well with this tour. We were picked up from our hotel at 12:30pm. We went to one location to wait for some additional travelers. No one showed up. We were taken to a second location where we changed vehicles. We waited here an additional 25 -30 minutes for others to show up. We were told the group was late. Something like 20 people eventaully showd up. Because the group was so large they broke us up, but we still spent the entire tour waiting for everyone to catch up and move on. Because of how slow everything moved we ended up having to cancel our dinner reservations. Very disappointing that we were on time but were forced to wait for others who showed up when it was convenient for them. I am still disappointed I missed out on a restaurant I had scouted ahead of time because the other guests were given consideration and we were not.
So, if you choose this tour, do NOT make any other plans for the day and do NOT arrive early lest you sit around and wait.

JUST BOOK IT!! Amazing experience! - This was one of our favorite things we did in Costa Rica....and we did A LOT!!! My husband and another friend we went with have been rappelling/canyoneering a lot, and they were really wondering how this tour would turn out with the majority of us not having done anything like this before. Both my husband and our friend were really impressed with the set up of the rappels. The ropes were anchored in above us, so we didn't have to precariously climb over the edges in order to actually be in the correct position to continue the rappel. No prior experience was necessary! I felt safe the whole time and we had a blast. One of the other gals in our group was really afraid of heights. But, she also felt safe the whole time and overcame her fears to really enjoy the whole experience. The guides were super fun, strong, and conscientious. The lunch afterwards was fantastic! I don't usually write reviews, but was so grateful for others who had taken time to write one that I just had to let everyone know....If you're on the fence about doing this...no need to be! Just book it! (We also purchased the photo package they offered. It was very reasonably priced and I was happy to leave my phone behind in the locker to be fully present for the whole experience!)

GO FOR IT - This trip was FABULOUS! The guides were terrific-very friendly, helpful and professional. The canyon and surrounding terrain was beautiful. Everything went smoothly! We were fortunate to have only 5 in our group, so it was a semi-private tour. You DO need to be moderatley fit and not afraid of heights, but if you are an adventure junkie like me, you will LOVE IT. I can't wait to do it again

Highlight of our trip! - We did the Lost Canyon rappelling tour and had the best time. The guides were fun and made sure we were safe. It was an experience like no other to rappel down waterfalls and hike through the river canyon. You will get wet and have the time of your life.

Incredible tour and tour company - Excellent coordination & very professional. Safety is a must with them and the gear is great. Rappelling waterfalls was incredible in an awesome rain forest setting. The guides were great and well trained. The hike out to the base camp was somewhat strenuous but the hiking thru the creek between rappelling sites required stamina and good balance. The water temperature was not that cold for a 7am tour. Lunch was wonderful at their main office near the river. I highly recommend this tour and tour company. I did purchase the picture package and received a Dropbox link that day contrary to the picture problems seen in other reviews.

Great time! - Great experience! Pictures are $10 each person, includes numerous pics, and are well worth it so you don’t have to carry a camera, which is difficult. You will get completely drenched but there is changing rooms at the end to change into dry cloths or you can dry off pretty well on the drive back. It can be pretty tough walking and the walk out is not for weak.

FINCA MODELO - Canyoning in Monteverde Tour - familiabrenestours.com - FOR ADRENALINE JUNKIES!
If you're looking for an adrenaline rush that beats skydiving or white-water rafting, this canyoning experience is it! Coming right off the shoulders of the rainy season, the waterfalls were absolutely roaring with water—making it an unforgettable and heart-pounding adventure.
I’ve done canyoning in La Fortuna before, and let me tell you: it doesn’t even come close to this. This tour was on a whole different level—more challenging, more technical, and way more thrilling. That said, I felt completely safe the entire time. The two guides, though young, were clearly experienced, professional, and had such great energy. They kept us laughing and feeling at ease, even while my heart was racing a mile a minute.
We were lucky to be the only ones on the tour, which allowed us to move through at a quicker pace. The guides were attentive and made sure everything ran smoothly—even when I got my foot caught in a crevasse (don’t worry, they pulled me out like pros!).
The waterfalls themselves were nothing short of spectacular. One rappel had a 90-foot drop right after a zip line, surrounded by lush jungle—it was like stepping into a scene from an adventure movie. Every moment was exhilarating and beautiful.
I can see how this tour might be intimidating for some, but they’ve got you covered. There are emergency exits at each waterfall if you decide to opt out. But if you’re up for the challenge, this is an experience you’ll never forget.
I loved every second of it and can’t recommend it enough. If you’re in the area, don’t miss this—it’s a bucket-list experience!

Canyoning & Waterfall Rappelling in Lost Canyon: What a Blast in a Beautiful Setting! - If you are considering this but unsure, you should definitely buy the ticket and take the ride! This was a blast. All our guides – in this case, Kendall, Michael, and Arturo – were safe, supportive, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic. Do not be scared off by the rappelling. It doesn’t necessarily come naturally, but it is all safe, you get the basic hang of it quickly, and the guides watch out for you. You also get to hike in the stream through the canyon and jump completely in the water in a small natural plunge pool, all surrounded by the beauty of nature and the rainforest.
Definitely wear water shoes or hiking shoes if you have them. And bring a change of dry clothes for after your adventure. The lunch place they take you to afterwards is also nice, and good food. Pura vida!

Great adventure + great lunch at the end - Our family of 4 really enjoyed canyoning in Lost Canyon. We each felt comfortable with all of the activities on the trip because the guides were thorough and helpful. The canyon itself is so beautiful, and my only complaint was that I didn't get to look around as much as I'd have liked while walking along the river (because I was paying so much attention to not sliding on the rocks.) There was a steep hike at the end back up to base camp, but we all made it. And the lunch afterwards was fantastic!

Activity video not provided even after extra payment - The activity was interesting, however we were not given the videos of the activity even after we paid the extra charge for the photos and videos.
