• Via Massaua, 158 - Tuscany, particularly the countryside nestled between the medieval villages of San Miniato and Montaione, is renowned as the birthplace of the truffle. This region boasts truffles throughout the year! Various esteemed species of truffles are harvested here: the white truffle, the black summer and winter truffles, and again, the white truffle. The unique climate, soil composition, and preservation of the natural landscape make the hills of San Miniato one of the world’s leading truffle collection sites, known for both quantity and exceptional quality.

This adventure will be led by Leonardo and his charming Lagotti Romagnoli, Aki and Roi, who will guide participants along hidden woodland paths in search of the earth’s diamond. There is an entire world surrounding the truffle, much of which remains a mystery even to science, that will be explored: how truffles originate and grow, why they are found in specific areas and seasons, and who or what contributes to their aroma. After the search, a tasting of truffle products will be offered, along with explanations of the various culinary uses of truffles.

The pristine environment, the bond with beloved dogs, and the tranquility of the forest, occasionally broken by birdsong, set the stage for exploring one of Tuscany’s oldest and most secretive professions: truffle hunting. Due to its subterranean nature, fragility, and significant economic value, the truffle has long captivated people, playing a prominent role in Tuscan culture and cuisine.

During the truffle hunting adventure, participants will traverse paths where truffles naturally grow. All the secrets of truffles will be revealed, including the plants that coexist with them and the training of the dogs. With a bit of luck, some delightful truffles may be discovered.

Both adults and children will enjoy following the dogs and assisting in extracting truffles from the earth. They will also gain valuable knowledge about truffles and the natural world.
