We’ll visit 2 bars/clubs featuring alternative music or a DJ that celebrates diversity and inclusion. Entry to these venues is free.

Many of these spots are what we call “clandestina” or hidden gems in Mexico. Enjoy homemade Pre-Hispanic drinks, mezcal, tequila, Mexican craft beers, and mixed Mexican cocktails at reasonable prices.

Additional Information

Imagine stepping into a gallery where darkly glamorous masked women, shamans, xoloitzcuintles, bulls, and cougars wander. The artist will start with a brief tour of her contemporary myth paintings, explaining their meanings and process, all while you enjoy a drink. Following this, she will lead a walking tour to two local artsy bars/clubs where you can savor Pre-Hispanic drinks, mezcals, tequilas, and other unique Mexican beverages at reasonable prices.

Listen and dance to a mix of alternative music, from Mexican indie rock, ska, and neo-cumbia to international electronica, alongside bohemians, hipsters, and creative souls.

Admire Low Brow Mexican sculptures and Urban-Neomexicanismo Murals. Engage in uplifting, exotic, and fun conversations. In essence, feel free and get inspired! Both English and Spanish are spoken.

Walk on the wilder side - isis was a fascinating host and she delivered on the experience. We did indeed check out her artwork and had a rich conversation about art, mythology, symbolism and explored underground nightlife. We got to explore the non-touristy side of San Miguel that we wouldn’t have discovered on our own.

Amazing experience!! ****** I really liked being able to visit Isis Rodriguez's Galería Nepantla gallery/studio, the place itself is incredible, the bricks of the structure make the paintings stand out. I first saw them on her website, but the photos really don't do them justice, in person they are impressive, with a lot of detail that makes them look very realistic. They are paintings that invite you to reflect, you create your own interpretation, but then she explains the story behind the painting and you realize that it is very different from what you thought. You learn to see life from another perspective and that is to be valued.

Tour of Isis’ paintings and visit to off the beaten path bars - Was an unusual tour. Enjoyed the visit to Isis’ studio, viewing her thought-provoking work, and having two way conversation about the inspirations. She’s creative and personable! The location for the walk to the first bar was a bit outside the normal tourist zone feeling, particularly given it was after dark, but we arrived at an interesting local spot with two guys playing Guns and Roses covers. Like us, you might feel a bit uncomfortable trying a housemade local drink at the bar. We didn’t have any adverse effects, but if you’re concerned stick to tequila, mezcal, or beer.
