Incredible tour. We learned a lot! - We had Jason as our guide and Tate as our driver. It was fun from the start. We had a rental car, so we parked in a paid dirt lot near the office. The drive was pretty smooth, even though it had just rained. There is a current road project that is partially completed, so much of the journey was on paved roads, and there will be more paved sections as time goes on. There are bathrooms at Caracol but only changing rooms at the river, so plan accordingly. Bring sunscreen, insect repellant, good walking shoes, a water bottle, towels and bathing suits if you plan to swim, and maybe a snack for during the tour. They served us a delicious lunch after Caracol. River shoes would be nice but aren’t necessary. Our family walked through the river and swam barefoot, but it is moving water. It’s mostly sand and large, smooth rocks on the river bed, so nothing sharp. Jason was an incredible tour guide. We laughed and learned a ton. He gave us plenty of time at Caracol and at the river. We never felt rushed. He was super knowledgeable and was eager to answer all of our questions. The river stop is about halfway back to town. It was the most lovely day, and we’d love to do it again with Jason!

An incredible tour! - We took the tour from the Maya Walk office, since we had a rental car and parked in a lot next to it for the day. Jason was our guide, and state was the driver. It was a blast from the beginning. Take some good walking shoes, insect repellant, sunscreen, a water bottle, something to swim in, and towels. We stopped on the way to grab gas and got some beer for the return trip (for us, not the driver) that we put in their cooler. There are restrooms at Caracol but only changing rooms at the river, so plan your bathroom stops accordingly. The ride out was pretty smooth. There is a current road project, so much of it was paved, and more will be paved as time goes on. The tour was amazing, and we couldn’t believe we could just walk all over these ancient structures. We learned a ton, laughed a lot, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We had a little cloud cover most of the day, but it was pretty warm when the sun came out. On a sunny day, I’m sure we would have needed to reapply sunscreen and drink more water. Jason took any photos we wanted and allowed us our time to explore. We never felt rushed. The river stop was about halfway back to town, and it was refreshing! River shoes would be nice, but not necessary. It’s moving water, but there are calm spots too. Plenty of space to sit under a tree if you don’t want to swim. I am so glad we booked this trip, and we’d happily do it again with Jason. It was the best day!

Great tour - Great tour of Caracol with a really great guide. We were almost the only people at Caracol in the morning. Very knowledgeable guide who explained the site and Mayan history. We skipped the cave because the road is flooded and it would have been a very long hike through deep mud to get there, so we spent more time enjoying swimming at the Rio on Pools.

Super good experience and highly recommended! - We have done 3 excursions with them: Tikal, Caracol and ATM. All three of us have had private tours. We're really praising them! Every day they were on time, in the evening you received a reminder via email or WhatsApp what time we were picked up. All guides spoke good English, had a lot of knowledge and worked safely. We didn't feel rushed for a moment, everything went super relaxed. We could stand by something as long as we wanted, take pictures and the like. The lunches provided on the excursions in Belize were simple, but good. In Guatemala we ate at a restaurant where we had a choice. That was really good. Especially ATM was a fantastic experience for us! Very happy with our guide Emile, who took the time for everything and helped us well. Highly recommended to book something with this organization!

Caracol with MayaWalk tours is a Must-See! - Jason was a professional, humorous, and diligent tour guide. His knowledge of Mayan history, Caracol, and Belize’s natural history is broad. We were also appreciative of Joel’s driving, attention to detail and hard work. Thank you for the unforgettable experience to you both! Alexandra and Dave

Amazing experience and tour made better by our great guide! - A few weeks ago a few friends and I toured Caracol with MayaWalk. This was our first tour with MayaWalk and we were extremely pleased. We were lucky to have Edioni as our guide for the day and from the minute we got in the van we were transported back in time learning about the history of Belize, the regions, and various cultures that make up Belize. Edioni was very knowledgeable telling us about the history of Caracol, setting the height of the civilization in perspective to the other Mayan civilizations and giving us live demos of how the Mayans used nature around them for healing, painting, food etc. after our Caracol visit we stopped at Rio Frio pools which lived up to its name. Due to the several days of rain Edioni mentioned the pools were higher than normal but we were still able to enjoy. Overall this was a great experience made even better by our amazing guide and I would definitely suggest this tour to anyone visiting the ruins as it was helpful to understand what we were looking and and the history behind it. We had such a great experience we also did MayaWalks Tikal and ATM caves tour.

Really great tour of... - Really great tour of caracol. We were the first visitors of the day there and had the place almost to ourselves. Guide was really knowledgeable and interesting. Lunch provided was very good. We skipped the cave because the guide warned us the road there has washed out and it would be a very long, muddy hike. But he gave us the option and let us choose that or more time swimming in the pools, which we all chose.

Disappointing - The guide, Mario, was very passionate about the history of the Caracol Maya Ruins so we spent much of our time there learning about the culture and history. Unfortunately, we were then short of time and since the road to the cave was closed we didn’t have enough time to hike up to the cave if we wanted to stop at the Rio On Pools and still return to San Ignacio in good time. The group agreed to this co promise but some people were disappointed to miss out on part of the tour. Peter, our driver, worked hard to get us to and from the ruins in good time but seemed to take extra time on the stops on the way to the reserve. Much of the road to very bumpy which. Add for an uncomfortable ride. The older van that we used for travelling was in poor condition with holes in the upholstery and seatbelts that didn’t work. This company had been recommended to us but I would hesitate to refer others to it.
