Labor Plaza - As its name implies, this plaza is dedicated to San Antonio’s labor history. It is filled with intricate details honoring labor movement figures over the years. Tower Life Building - The towering skyscraper on the left is the Tower Life Building, constructed in 1929. This 31-story building reaches 404 feet, making it the tallest in San Antonio until 1968.

Main Plaza - This plaza follows the traditional Spanish design for major New World settlements: a large cathedral on one side and a plaza on the other. During the Spanish era, it served as the settlement’s central hub for town meetings and vendor stalls.

San Antonio City Hall - As you walk, admire the impressive San Antonio City Hall on the right. Dating back to 1891, the land it occupies has a deeper history. During the Spanish era, it was the center of the Main Plaza.

Presidio San Antonio de Bexar - Established alongside the Alamo in 1718, this presidio housed soldiers to protect the mission and town from raids. Initially, nearly 50 soldiers and their families were stationed here.

Spanish Governor’s Palace - Approaching on the right is the Spanish Governor’s Palace. For a closer view, turn right at the corner to see the building’s front. Built in 1749, it was originally the residence of San Antonio’s military commanders and later the Spanish governors’ primary residence.

The Alamo - On March 6th, 1836, General Antonio López de Santa Anna launched a full assault on the Alamo. Despite a few reinforcements, the Texian defenders numbered just over 200 against Santa Anna’s thousands.

The Esquire Tavern - Opened in 1933, the Esquire Tavern marks the end of Prohibition. Its 100-foot bar remains the longest in Texas, celebrating the repeal of prohibition laws.
