The Erawan Museum is designed to showcase the spirit of Asia, preserving the essence of art and four major religions to enlighten Asian people. The name “Erawan” signifies rain, raincloud, and rainbow, inspired by the myth of Indra riding the Erawan Elephant to bring rain to the earth. The museum is divided into three levels: the underworld, the human earth, and heaven. The lowest level, known as Suvarnabhumi, represents the underworld, the second level symbolizes the human earth, and the third level, located within the elephant’s body, represents heaven.
