Seven Lakes - Drive to Marghuzor, the first lake, situated at an elevation of 1,640 meters. Its name translates to ‘eyelashes’ in Tajik and is known for its vibrant colors. Next, visit Soya Lake, which means ‘shadow’ due to its location between high cliffs, keeping it in the shade most of the day. The third lake, Gushor, is just 400 meters from Soya and is connected by a turbulent stream. Gushor translates to ‘watchful’ and is surrounded by steep cliffs. The fourth lake, Nofin, is the central lake and translates to ‘umbilical cord’ due to its 2.5 km length. The fifth lake, Khurdak, is 1.5 km from Nofin and is the smallest of the seven, translating to ‘the baby.’ The sixth lake, Marguzor, is the largest and considered by many to be the most beautiful of the Seven Lakes.
-
Seven Lakes - An optional hike from the sixth lake to Hazorchashma, the seventh and highest of the Seven Lakes, located at around 2,400 meters above sea level. Hazorchashma means ‘a thousand springs,’ as it is fed by two rivers and numerous streams and springs. It is the last lake in the Shing River gorge. The distance is 2.5 km one way with an elevation gain of 340 meters.
