Embark on a journey through one of the world’s most magnificent natural wonders. Starting from Omalos at an elevation of 1235 meters, the Samaria Gorge stretches 16 kilometers through the terrain. Located within the Samaria National Park, the gorge spans 150 meters at its widest and narrows to just 3 meters. It is home to over 450 unique species of plants and animals, found only in Crete. The trek begins at Xyloskalo and descends to sea level at the village of Agia Roumeli on the Libyan Sea. The village of Samariá, situated within the gorge, serves as a sanctuary for the rare Cretan goat, known as Kri-Kri or Agrimi, which is predominantly found in the park. After a challenging yet breathtaking hike, we will take a boat ride – equally stunning – from Agia Roumeli to Chora Sfakia, where our bus will be waiting.
