Well worth it - Perfect tour of sites from the movie. Great commentary from guide, comfortable bus ride with several stops and even a little free time to explore. Be sure to buy the goat!

Lots of fun even if you're not a massive fan! - I'll be honest, this was a 40th birthday present for my wife. I'm not a big fan of SOM and this was not my idea of a fun day out. However, I had a really fun time and I thoroughly recommend it, if only to see some amazing scenery and to spend an hour in the Salzkammergut. It kicks off with a tour of SOM hotspots in Salzburg itself, including Leopold Palace and the lake and Schloss Hellbrunn where other parts were filmed. The big SOM liveried bus couldn't stop at the nunnery as it's not bus friendly, however we had already gone there the day before by foot and heard the nuns sing through the walls (you can't see them). We then travelled out of Salzburg to Wolfgang See and Mondsee, singing along to the songs in the bus with actions, ably led by Simon our tour guide, who was clearly a former musical theatre student!! He was ably assisted (though not in the actions fortunately) by driver Ferdinand. Both were tall and wore lederhosen, straight ladies. A particularly animated free for all of Do Re Mi was the highlight and a very silly version of the Lonely Goatherd complete with dancing fluffy goats! We then had a whole hour in Mondsee which was just stunning with shops like iced cakes and an amazing lake. We saw the cathedral where the film Von Trapps were married. Then it was back to Salzburg. Some people got out and looked at Mirabellgarten but we'd already been there the day before, when we did our own tour, with my wife mimicking Maria poses at all the main sights, including the Do Re Mi bridge (Mozart Bridge) and the Nonnenberg Stifte. As we had paid for a Schnitzel & Noodle lunch, we had to hotfoot it to the Herzl Restaurant for our three course meal. That was maybe the only downside. Although the restaurant was very posh and the service excellent (we were sat outside as it was a hot day), my schnitzel was NOT a schnitzel, but a small portion of roasted turkey breast with a small splodge of cheesy noodles and two cherry tomatoes. Not quite as promised.... my wife's vegetarian portion, lime and asparagus risotto, was far nicer. I'd order vegetarian if I did it again.... Overall, great fun, even if you're not a die hard fan, you get to see lots of scenery and it was organised down to a hilt, with documentaries playing on the coach, singalongs and lots of interesting film and historical snippets. I would say, however, that it was a hot sunny day which made it spectacular. We did the 9.15 am tour.

Fun tour and great dinner - Super fun tour with a great host. Lots of information about the movie and great seeing the Austrian countryside. Dinner was surprisingly amazing as we had low expectations but the venue (we sat on the outside patio), the schnitzel and the noodles were great!

Sound of Music Tour is a MUST - We had the best time on the Sound of Music Tour. Mitch and Ferdinand took care of us. They were funny and well versed. They took us to all of the famous spots and made sure we had enough time to take pictures. They gave recommendations and were very friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this tour if you are traveling to Salzburg. Even if you are not a huge fan of the movie, the sights are beautiful and the company is fun!

One of my favorite things - It was super fun! My tour guide (Mitch) was very knowledgeable and funny. People sang along to songs on the drive. With limited time in Salzburg, it was also a good way to see multiple sites, including some of the lakes outside of the city. Highly recommend!

The Hills Were Alive!! - This tour was recommended by all our friends and family who had previously visited Salzburg. It did not disappoint. We not only got to enjoy all of the Sound of Music trivia and music but the many beautiful sights of Salzburg. Our guide was warm, welcoming and so much fun. A great way to spend an afternoon in lovely Salzburg.

Sound of Music with Bridgett!! - That you get the inside scoop about the movie and the family and visit the sites the film was shot. Bridgett was a great tour guide and quite enthused about the family and tour.

The driver in the bus or... - The driver in the bus or maybe it was the tour guide told us the dinner we paid for was at Deneen that night. I thought that was crazy. Language problem probably. Couldn’t stay that late because of other plans. No refund☹️

Disappointing - The bus showed sites, and explained some history, but the time spent at the sites was inadequate. The tour guide almost seemed like he was trying for a Hollywood job, with misplaced humor throughout. Unless you are a real Sound of Music fan, this is not worth your time.

Do not waste your money and time - It was not sound of music tour at all. Not even sightseeing, rarely get off the bus. Majority pass by only with guide talking. Whenever passing by the point, guide was saying that you have to visit there on your own??? Couldn’t take pictures because the bus was going too fast. Meal was included but guide did not mention that there was time slot. Time was only given less than an hour and the restaurant was 20min. Away from the dropping point. We were lucky to notice the time slot and barely made on time. Meal supposed to be schnitzel, but it was weird turkey not even fried. I usually rely on the reviews before I book, this tour had good reviews and didn’t mention anything about getting ripped off by stuck in the bus for four hours just listening guide talking and the meal that wasn’t even normal schnitzel with pork (I had few good schnitzels from previous days already). I wanted to let others to know what the real tour was like. I’m very disappointed and it was not worth the money I paid. I feel like I’ve wasted my money and precious time. As a big fan of sound of music, this is such a scheme. Worst tour ever.
