Quebrada del Rio de las Conchas - Erosion has created a series of natural marvels like The Devil’s Throat, a deep and narrow canyon, and The Amphitheatre, known for its perfect natural acoustics. Other formations include The Toad, The Friar, The Obelisk, and The Castles.
Gradually, the arid landscape gives way to vast vineyards, leading to one of the most notable regions in the CalchaquÃes Valleys: Cafayate, a town with one-story houses featuring late 19th-century colonial and baroque architecture. Quebrada de las Conchas: Over 10 stops showcasing multicolored formations shaped by wind and water erosion, such as La Garganta del Diablo, El Amphitheater, La Yesera, Las Ventanas, Los Castillos, and more.
Cafayate - In Cafayate, you can visit a winery and sample the finest wines in the area. While the region is famous for Torrontés, it also has extensive vineyards dedicated to red grapes like Malbec, Tannat, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Cafayate - Tour Cafayate city and a winery. You’ll have 2 free hours to have lunch and explore the city. The town features one-story houses with late 19th-century colonial and baroque architecture. (Lunch and drinks are NOT included in the price).
Quebrada del Rio de las Conchas - We return to Salta via the Quebrada de las Conchas on Route 68, making stops we missed on the way out and enjoying this unique and beautiful Argentine landscape.
Valle de Lerma - Before reaching Salta city, we make a technical stop in La Viña or Talapampa for a snack or bathroom break.
Cachi
Valle de Lerma - Departing Salta, we travel through the Lerma Valley towards the south of the province, reaching El Carril before heading west towards Quebrada del Escoipe and its stunning landscapes. Technical stops are made for bathroom breaks or snacks.
Cuesta del Obispo - Experience the majestic Cuesta del Obispo and Valle Encantado, surrounded by mountains. After passing Piedra del Molino (3,400 m.a.s.l.), we enter Los Cardones National Park.
Parque Nacional Los Cardones - Leaving the fertile Lerma Valley, we ascend Quebrada de Escoipe and continue along the impressive Cuesta del Obispo and Valle Encantado, surrounded by mountains. After Piedra del Molino (3,400 m.a.s.l.), we cross Los Cardones National Park.
Valle Encantado - Visit local grocers and pass through towns where peppers are dried by the roadside.
Cachi - Arriving at noon in the colonial town of Cachi, you’ll have 2 free hours to have lunch and explore this unique northern Argentine town. Its cobbled streets and adobe houses offer a glimpse into a place frozen in time, preserving its original essence. During these 2 hours, you can explore the town’s 10x10 block area and sample its regional cuisine. We then regroup with the guide to return to Salta.
Valle de Lerma - Before reaching Salta city, we make a technical stop in Chicoana or El Carril for a snack or bathroom break.
Salinas Grandes
Salta - Departing from Salta city, we take the central access route, RN 9, then enter General Güemes municipality via RN 34. We then enter Jujuy province, where we get a glimpse of the Quebrada de Humahuaca, passing through picturesque towns like Yala, Volcán (technical stop), and Purmamarca, home to the majestic Cerro de los 7 Colores.
Quebrada de Humahuaca - A brief technical stop allows passengers to use the bathroom or buy snacks.
Purmamarca - Our first stop is in Purmamarca for a panoramic photo from the route, capturing the town’s changing colors in the morning light. This stop lasts about 20 minutes.
Cuesta de Lipan - We ascend the incredible Cuesta de Lipán, reaching 4,170 meters above sea level, where we can admire its spectacular flora and fauna. This winding high mountain road showcases the beautiful landscapes of the puna with its green and brown hues.
Salinas Grandes - Arriving at the third-largest salt flat in Latin America, we have 45 minutes to 1 hour to explore the salt pools, sculptures, and salt restaurant, and take stunning photos in this vast salt flat in northern Argentina.
Purmamarca - Returning to Purmamarca, you’ll have 2 free hours to explore the charming town and have lunch. The town features the imposing Cerro de los 7 Colores, narrow cobbled streets, and adobe houses.
Salta - We return to Salta city, crossing the last of the Quebrada de Humahuaca and its landscapes. Technical stops are made for bathroom breaks or to buy food and drinks.

The small and magical town of Cachi is characterized by its colonial-style facades, with mansions located on the edge of narrow, cobblestone streets. The Salinas Grandes excursion will allow you to discover the most interesting places. Marvel at the Cerro de los Siete Colores, pose for photos in the stunning white salt flats of Salinas Grandes, and shop for souvenirs at the famous Purmamarca crafts market.
