Bison up close! - Be prepared for an amazing time with a unique opportunity to see wildlife up close with the most beautiful scenic back drop. Also, visit a non functioning, historical ranch with an interesting museum. Great little gift shop at the end of the tour.
Plenty of facilities.
Wonderful tour guide Sonsari!

The Great Lake - The Salt Lake excursion is worthwhile to admire the nature in its entirety. The canonical point to admire the lake, especially if you want to optimize the times, is Antelope Island where, climbing to the top, you can have a beautiful perspective of the basin.

Highlight of My Trip – A Must-Do Tour with an Incredible Guide! - This tour to the Great Salt Lake and Antelope Island ended up being the highlight of my entire trip to Salt Lake City. It wasn’t originally on my itinerary, but after a colleague recommended it, I made the change—and I’m so glad I did!
Our guide, Blake, was amazing from start to finish. He was warm, welcoming, and made sure everyone felt included. His energy, sense of humor, and fun personal touches—like the names he gave the animals—made the experience both entertaining and educational. Blake also had an eye for great photo opportunities and even offered to take pictures of us, which turned out beautifully.
The tour itself was well-paced and packed with stunning scenery and wildlife encounters. The short hike on Antelope Island gave us incredible views, and the stop at Fielding Garr Ranch was rich with history and wildlife sightings. From bison and bighorn sheep to local bird species, there was so much to see.
If you’re planning a visit to Salt Lake City, don’t miss this tour. I can’t recommend it—or our guide, Blake—highly enough.

That lake IS salty! - This tour was a confluence of the best: tour guide, wonderful, fun, thoughtful and generous tour companions who were complete strangers, the weather, and of course, the tour itself. Our knowledgeable and jolly guide, John, picked us all up in the van, and we set off to discover the history of the Great Salt Lake and the people and wildlife who populated the history. We saw bison ("Don't pet the fluffy sheep!), great horned owls (OOOh!), gulls and other birds, and a porcupine in a tree (I don't think it was pear). We visited a historic ranch, and a couple of us practiced lassoing skills. A short hike up a mountainside gave us wonder. John kindly lent me walking sticks because I couldn't retain balance in a narrow hallway.
Too much to cram into, so if you're planning a visit to SLC and want to see the lake, choose this tour.

The Guides Made This Trip Worth the Extra Effort - Last year I was in Salt Lake City for one day. Ran into a representative trying to explain how Southwest Adventure Tours could be a great value add to hotel guests. The ladies at the airport hotel could not appreciate the message but I managed to have quite a conversation with the rep. I told her when I returned, I would definitely look her company up. So glad I followed up. The first day I got to town, we booked a trip to Antelope Island. Rain was in the forecast but we persevered. They picked us up at the Salt Lake City Visitor Center in a large van with their logo painted on. They had waters for us and we were happy cause it had been a long day. Michelle was our tour guide and boy was she knowledgable. Despite her best efforts, the rain prevented me from getting any really good pictures but we got a great intro to the park, its residents and history. She even had great pictures of better weather days.
Determined to try again, I booked another trip and tour leader, Sonsai was also extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I selected the 4:30 trip (it really started at 3:30) so I could get sunset shots. I was the only tourist so we had lots of time to see everything. When we arrived, the buffalo were all over the place. They were so close and they were very lively playing with each other and running. We saw a barn owl, a coyote, pheasants and pronghorn antelope. They are skittish so could not get close. My guide was constantly sharing info and making sure we were safe and not upsetting the wildlife.
At the end of the day, we hiked up to a look out area for sunset shots. It was amazing. Without her encouragement, I would have never had enough guts to climb up there but what a view once we arrived. She even got shots of me, something you rarely get. I was ecstatic. It was a fantastic day an I am so glad I booked that second day.

Good way to explore the... - Good way to explore the SLC. Although I feel like the Viator guided tours range in quality depending on the guide you end up with. I've had some awesome guides that will make your trip out-of-this-world great, versus, some just become a warm body that accompanies you in the van that provides easy access to must visit sites. This one was okay. But my friends and I made the best of it. Just for ease of access, I would highly recommend it.
