Sights were great - guidance was lacking. - Mt. Vesuvius was amazing, but no guidance on the distance up the mountain. Pompeii was cool, but there was also a lack of guidance and the hand held audio guide was hard to hear because it wasn’t an ear bud type like other tours. We couldn’t hear it well, even turned up, and the map was confusing - we missed a lot of Pompeii because of it. The bus driver was very skilled up the scary mountain drive, lol, and the guide on the bus was informative and kind.

Pompeii to the Summit of Mt. Vesuvius - This excursion provides transportation to two amazing sites, however, the company providing the transportation needs improvement. The drivers that operate the shuttles didn't speak any English, which was surprising given that this is a tourist industry. The drivers became frustrated with riders when they attempted to communicate with them and language became a barrier. The audio device provided by the company at Pompeii wasn't useful and earbuds would of been appreciated. The company contact on Mt. Vesuvius was at a loss when he lost phone service and couldn't provide tickets to the group to access the trail (see picture below of angry tourists trying to get the tickets that they paid for). After waiting for 30 minutes, he was able to speak with the Mt. Vesuvius staff and get us in. Our driver became frustrated with the logjam of busses in the Vesuvius turn around, got out and taught us Italian swear words as he berated another driver. The drive down the mountain on a one and half lane road was all gas and no brakes, more of a thrill ride. At the end of the day, we were able to see 2 amazing sites and were dropped off safely at our destination.
