Uyuni - Day 1: (L, D)

Our journey kicks off with a visit to an open-air museum showcasing ancient and impressive field trains.

We enter the Salar through Colchani, where we’ll observe salt processing and salt mounds, visit the salt hotel, see the water eyes, and continue downtown to explore Incahuasi Island, known for its volcanic rock and giant cacti. Climbing to the top offers an extraordinary view of the white salt plain.

Next, we head to Fish Island and then proceed to Mala Mala Bay, located at the opposite end of the Salar, to visit Galaxy Cave. This extraordinary site features ancestral burials and petrified cacti.

At night, we stay at a Basic Salt Hostel (private room with bathroom).

Salar de Uyuni - Day 2 (B, L, D):

Heading south, we encounter the Cañapa, Stinking, Chiarkota, Honda, and Ramadita lagoons, home to large numbers of flamingos. Other birds, such as geese and Andean gulls, also inhabit these lagoons, which are flanked by snow-capped volcanoes with green skirts of brava straw, yareta, and thola.

We enter the desert of sand and pebbles, where the landscapes are painted in beautiful shades, eventually reaching the hotel.

At night, we stay at a basic hostel near the red lagoon to watch the sunset over one of the most beautiful landscapes on Earth.

In winter, called dry season from May to October, when the surface hardens, geometric figures formed by the salt particles agglomerated into polygons appear. In summer, rainy season from November to March, the salt desert is transformed into a giant mirror that blends into the sky of the purest blue you’ve ever seen before.
