During the walking tour, participants will admire the architecture of the colonial city of Antigua. Below is a brief summary of what to expect along the way.

  • Antigua - The primary foods in Mesoamerica before the Conquest included corn, beans, squash, cacao, and chili. To connect with the past, participants will have the opportunity to interact with local people and learn how to make tortillas from corn.

  • Antigua Guatemala Central Park - The Central Park is located at the heart of the city, surrounded by the traditional grid pattern commonly used in Spanish colonial urban planning. The park is encircled by the Palace of the General Captains, City Hall, the Church of San José (formerly the Cathedral of Guatemala), the Archbishop’s Palace, and the Portal of Commerce. Visitors will also find the Mermaid’s Fountain, built by the Count of Gomera in remembrance of a popular legend about a king whose daughters gave birth but did not want to nurse their children. Guests will learn about this famous story while immersing themselves in the colonial history of the city.

  • H75C+C5H - Visit an iconic restaurant in Antigua Guatemala known for its variety of local dishes. Guests will learn about ancient kitchens and taste delicious Guatemalan desserts made with local ingredients. The terrace offers an amazing view of the Santa Catalina Arch, La Merced Church, and other important buildings in Antigua Guatemala.

  • Arco de Santa Catalina - During the walk, participants will appreciate the Santa Catalina Arch and its history.

  • H75C+C5H - Continuing the experience, guests will taste local dishes and learn about their history. They will discover the most important dishes in Guatemalan gastronomy, which originated in the sixteenth century and represent a fusion of pre-Columbian cuisine with Hispanic Arabic ingredients. Most dishes are made with vegetables, meats, and spices. Participants will also have the opportunity to taste an iconic dish of Antigua Guatemala, known for its unique flavor and ingredients.

  • H75C+C5H - The experience continues with a visit to a traditional Guatemalan candy shop, where guests will learn about the candy-making process and history. They will also appreciate handmade candies made from local ingredients and fruits.

  • Diagonal 1 - At the end of the delicious walking tour, guests will be transferred back to their hotel.
