• Y Linh Ho - Situated in the mountains southwest of Sapa, Y Linh Ho is typically the initial stop on the Muong Hoa Valley trek. This secluded Black Hmong village is accessible only by trekking, providing a serene and untouched environment. As trekkers navigate narrow mountain trails and bamboo forests, they will encounter small houses dotted among terraced fields. Y Linh Ho is celebrated for its striking landscapes, tranquil beauty, and insight into traditional Hmong life, away from the more crowded tourist routes.
• Lao Chai - A short distance from Y Linh Ho is Lao Chai, one of the largest Black Hmong villages in the Sapa area. Encircled by expansive terraced rice paddies and bordered by rolling hills, Lao Chai is both picturesque and culturally rich. Visitors can witness the Hmong people engaged in fieldwork, weaving hemp fabric, or dyeing with indigo. The village offers a profound cultural experience, with opportunities to visit local homes and learn about traditional farming and textile methods passed down through generations.
• Ta Van - Further along the Muong Hoa Valley, Ta Van is inhabited by the Giay ethnic group, along with smaller populations of Hmong and Dao people. Unlike the steep hills of the previous villages, Ta Van is set in a lush, green valley with scenic views and wooden bridges spanning gentle streams. This village is renowned for its stilt houses, vibrant community life, and an increasing number of homestays, making it an excellent place to enjoy a local meal or spend a night with a host family. Ta Van offers a blend of cultures and serves as a relaxing conclusion to the trek.
