Additional Information

Join us for a 2-hour stroll through Rotterdam and witness the striking contrast between its postmodern architecture and its poignant history. Originating as a small fishing village 800 years ago, the city rapidly evolved into the Netherlands’ key transport hub and a major destination for cruise ships. On 14 May 1940, the city center was bombed by the Nazis. Demonstrating remarkable resilience, Rotterdam rose from the ashes to boast one of Europe’s most impressive skylines. Our guides, who are local experts and captivating storytellers, are eager to share fascinating tales about the city’s past and contemporary culture. Additionally, we will provide recommendations on must-visit spots, the best places to wine and dine, and tips on avoiding tourist traps.

Fully recommend this for a morning in Rotterdam - FUN. We spent two hours with Nidos learning about the history and modern day of Rotterdam (and all the reasons not to go to Amsterdam). On his recommendation we went to several other spots in the city (and further) which made our trip even better. Fun, playful and welcoming approach to a walking tour which meant the time flew by. While it's free, Nidos was well deserving of the tips.

Great overview of the city - The 2 hour tour is a few euros to book and then you can opt to tip at the end. I think more or less everybody did. The trip covers most of the centre of Rotterdam so is ideal if you are on a short break here. Easy to find the meeting point as it is outside the Markhal. Nice balance of history and humour from our guide Nydas.

Very enjoyable - This tour is advertised as a "free walking tour" and the guide asks for tips at the end. I imagine the short fee here is so that tripadvisor gets a cut. My tour's guide was named Bram, and he was knowledgeable, relatable, and very funny. He was happy to answer any questions as well. Rotterdam is a big city and you can't cover all of it in a 2-hour walking tour, but this one was helpful and a great experience I would recommend to anyone.

Amazing tour with a great guide - The tour was amazing! Especially our tourgide Mewis did a great job. He told us a lot of interesting facts about the city, with a lot of humor. He was able to keep the groups attention for the whole tour! Thank you Mewis!

wouldn't chose him again - Not only was the tour guide late...he didn't seem to know a lot about the history of Rotterdam. There was a carnival on the day of tour and he led us right into it's path at which point we couldn't hear him.
