Cute experience - Cute experience - so glad we had a chance to see Kiwis. Too bad you don't get to take any photos, even when there are kiwis in the light.

So fun to see a baby kiwi - So fun to learn about the kiwi. We got to see a few from a distance in a dark room. Then we got to watch a worker feed a baby. It was so cute. Our tour guide was wonderful. We are so glad we came. On leaving we got to see an ostrich up close. It was very exciting. Highly recommend.

For all Kiwi fans and those who want to become one - a worthwhile visit! - This is the chance to really learn a lot about kiwifruit and see live kiwifruit. You can tell that the team really does the tasks with passion and get a unique insight into the breeding of the NZ national animal.

Go learn about kiwis and support their survival! - Important learning experience for getting educated about the endangered kiwi birds. This hatchery is doing great work in improving the survival rate of kiwi eggs and newly-hatched kiwi chicks. We were fortunate that several of the adult kiwis were awake and moving around in the special dark environment.

You will hardly ever get closer to living kiwi chicks - A very informative tour with a very fair price and a good cause. We saw screening of eggs, egg incubators, freshly hatched kiwi chicks, and nurturing. Our 6 year old son did not speak English but still enjoyed the guided tour with a bit translating. Can recommend. Please be aware that taking pictures is not permitted.

A New Zealand Must-Do! National Kiwi Hatchery - This was a very interesting tour of the National Kiwi Hatchery, where we learned about the history and life cycle of the Kiwi, and also got to see how they are being captively reared and returned to the wild to help increase the population. The exhibits were very well done and getting to see young Kiwis being given their health check-ups was an added bonus!

Customer service flop - I went because my visiting friends wanted to see a kiwi bird. That part was cool, but it was slow and a bit boring if you are not a nature geek. Also, the tour operator at the front desk was not very friendly. The website through Viator was not very clear about age limits and allowed me to register a three year old, only to be told they were not allowed. So we lost two tickets of our eight as mom needed to stay back to babysit, and they didn’t offer a refund. The lady at the counter treated us like fools.
