- We recommend that women do not use our bathing facilities whilst pregnant. However, it is an individual’s choice and we recommend that you seek advice from your health professional if you are wanting to bathe.
- Not recommended for travelers with heart problems or other serious medical conditions
- The minimum age for the Mud Bath is 2.5 years, and for the Sulphur Spa is 6 months.
- Children are considered those aged 5 -15. Under 4s are free when accompanied by a paying adult.

Hell's Gate is located just outside of Rotorua's city centre. From the city simply travel east on State Highway 30. At approximately 5 minutes past the airport, you will turn right towards Whakatane. Hell's Gate is 3kms down this road.

Hells Gate tour - Our tour guide Ngāti was excellent and very friendly and polite. he was very knowledgeable and made our trip very worthwhile and entertaining.

Awesome - Do it, spectacular, relaxing , would do it again, friendly staff ,clean facilities, would like a bit more time in mud pool ,but awesome just the same

Fantastic - Absolutely amazing experience, would definitely do again. The staff were amazing and helpful as. The pools were Devine, you really should finish on the cold pool, it was so invigorate. Overall a definite must do

Awesome well worth it - We had an awesome time at the mud pool and hot tubs. Staff were friendly and very attentive, especially as my partner has limited mobility

I was extremely excited to do this on my bucket list - It was so amazing with starting with a walk, then a mud bath spring and then a natural Hot spring communal showers to use. It was an amazing day out. Strongly recommend!!!!

Really fun experience - The staff were very helpful, lots of information, very relaxing. Definitely glad we gave this a go, especially if you love a bit of love for your skin. We didn't stay for more than an hour as my teenage kids (10 & 13) were getting a little bored. I can quite happily come back on my own or with friends and have a good soak and natter. Ladies at the cafe were lovely and so were the wide array of gifts available at the gift shop.

Relaxing and fun. - It was a fun family experience and it was also good to chat with others from all over the world in the larger pools. The staff were kind enough to take some photos for us when our hands were muddy.

Truly entered hell with one staff member + jewelry tarnished - Visited hells gate this week and had a really bad customer experience with one of the staff members in the reception. We visited as a group of friends and were unsure to upgrade or not, however, the staff member with black hair and black ear-piece,
was really pushy, stressful and did not listen to us. Giving comments like “you should upgrade because I have seen people in the cafe sitting there and being bored” (is it that bad to drink some coffee and relax??). Asked for 1 min to talk between us to make our decision but he interrupted us after 10 seconds with small talk.
In the end, we gave up and just upgraded because it was so overwhelming. We entered this place to relax but got even more stressed after.. I have myself worked in customer experience and can say that this interaction was really bad, and would wish the staff member to be more professional, less pushy and stressful, and not talk over and interrupt the customer. Additionally, he should have listened to what we were saying. The rest of the staff were nice, so sad to have this experience with one particular staff member..
Also waited 30H and followed instructions and woke up and silver jewelry was tarnished…
And pretty pricey for 90 dollars for this session + 25 dollars extra for package..
