Entry begins with a security screening by the Italian State Police, located in the right hemicycle of St. Peter’s Square when facing the Basilica.

Pilgrims and prayer-goers can access the “Prayer Path,” marked with yellow signs and staffed for guidance. General visitors must pass through security at one of the other gates available for public access, with queues managed by the Italian State Police.
