Thank you, Massimo! - My name is Daniella and I have been a guide in Rome for over 25 years. I was honored when Massimo de Filippis invited me to attend one of his small group tours. And I thoroughly enjoyed the experience! First, Massimo speaks phenomenal English. (And don't underestimate that fact. As a native English-speaker, I have often winced overhearing Italian guides' pronunciation.) Second, he is lively and has a great sense of humor. Third, his tours are less archeological and more anthropological -- which is great if you want to understand the lives and personalities of the men and women behind the monuments. For example, we discussed Julius Caesar's career and motivations, nearby the spot where he was assassinated. Likewise, we discussed Emperor Hadrian's sexuality and his penchant for commissioning statues of Antinoos while sitting in the shadow of the Temple of Hadrian. That was also where Massimo recommended we use a cafe to grab a drink and/or use the bathroom. A very courteous gesture that made the visit feel so relaxed. So, absolutely, I recommend Massimo de Filippis and Storytelling Rome!

Interesting and fun! - Massimo was funny, interesting and knowledgeable. We braved cold weather and intermittent rain and it was worth it. Really fun, a little bawdy. Massimo is a terrific storyteller. Loved it. This tour was everything the description promised.

Discover the stories that lie behind the buildings - I've taken Massimo's night tour of the Roman Emperors and I must say it has been a very enriching experience. For once, I was able to hear about the life stories of the Emperors who made the city great, their human side and psycology instead of simply concentrating on buildings, art or architecture. He gave me a context in the most knowledgeable and witty way - and I am most grateful for that. Highly recommended!

Entertaining Guide. Interesting Stories! - Wonderful story telling in Rome. We join Massimo on our first day in Rome. He is a wonderful story teller. The day before we went for the tour, he texted to inform us that it might get colder later in the night and that we should bring extra layer of clothing. That is a thoughtful gesture. He arrived at the meeting point early. Brought us around Rome on foot and told us interesting stories at each location. He is animated and entertaining. Even my tired 14year old son finds it interesting. Overall a nice fun tour. Would recommend him to anyone going to Rome.

Great tour - a must do while in Rome - The tour was an interesting and entertaining insight into the lives of some of Romes most well known Emperors. It brought places we had walked past during our daily excursions to life - including where Ceasar was murdered! We went with our children -15 and 12 - who loved it as much as we did. Our guide Massimo was brilliant who also suggested a couple of museums to go to as well as a local restaurant! A must do while in Rome.

It’s a blast! - Massimo somehow combines the facts with a fascinating story. There’s plenty of dirt on those emperors and the power games they played. One of the best tour guides in Rome. What a blast!
