Duration: 2 hours, 30 minutes
Cancellation: 1 day learn more
Highlights
  • Galleria Borghese - Cardinal Scipione Borghese commissioned both the Villa Borghese itself and many of the great works still on display in its gallery. Works by Bernini, Caravaggio and Titian remain in their original settings, as envisioned by the Cardinal, a fiercely determined collector.

Strictly controlled entry to the Villa and Gallery can make booking difficult and complicated.

On this fully-guided tour you’ll hear more about Cardinal Borghese’s quest to complete his collection, and the stories behind the artworks themselves, including Bernini’s ‘Apollo and Daphne’, Canova’s ‘Pauline Bonaparte’, Caravaggio’s ‘St. Jerome’ and Raphael’s ‘The Deposition’. Your guide will be an English-speaker and an expert on the collection, and audio headsets ensure you’ll hear every word they say.

  • Villa Borghese Gardens - Included in this tour is a visit to the Borghese Gardens: once the Cardinal’s private park, now a favorite spot for locals to relax among sculptures, plants and water features and get away from it all.

Wonderful - Federica's tour was the highlight of my trip to Roma. She spoke with such ease and passion that I felt like I was being transported back in time, she made history and art come to life. I highly recommend this tour, the secret gardens and wider green space are beautiful to relax in afterwards. Thank you

Skeptical at first, absolutely worth it - Our guide at the Borghese, Emanuelle, was absolutely fantastic. The Museum limits the trip to only two hours, but she absolutely made the most of that short time. She was able to weave an incredible tale about the artists, and the most notable works in the museum, and she even dedicated time beyond two hours to the gardens to finish telling the story of the museum’s history. To be perfectly honest, I wasn’t sure if this was going to be worth it, but without question, I would recommend a tour with Emmanuelle.

Worth it - It was my First Museum visit with a guide, booked because I really wanted to get in and it was sold out. But it was a very good experience, I loved Sal and his passion for art was obvious. Perfect English with a good Italian accent ;)

Magnificant! Just do it!! - It was beautiful!!! Overall, the Borghese Museum was one of the absolute hightlights of my visit to Roma. The marble scuptures and ceilings were breathtaking. I am definitely going to visit again when I come back. 2 hours was perfect timing to go around a couple times and really visually drink in the artwork (ngl I kinda wanted to stay longer, I could stare at the ceiling art in the grand room forever). My soul feels so nurtured and my love for Roma and her art, history, and essence changed for the absolute better. Don't hesitate, buy your ticket now! It was so easy to get in and find the guide who provides your tickets; I chose the unguided tour. 10/10 !!!

Scam - Basically a scam, contacted the tour guide upon my arrival, they don't wait for you if you are a couple of minutes late, and don't even reply to messages. Had an experience with another company, and they would organise the time with you and wait for you to arrive at the meeting point.

Change your tour time at your own risk! - To be fair, my daughter thoroughly enjoyed this tour and had high praise for the tour guide. HOWEVER, we were both supposed to take this tour, but our tickets were completely bungled. Though the time change we requested was confirmed by Viator, and our vouchers reflected the new time, we showed up to be told that we were expected earlier in the day. There were no tickets for us at the time shown on our voucher! Due to one no-show, my daughter was able to do the tour. I was gutted I had to sit it out as this was anticipated as a trip highlight for us. City Wonders claimed Viator had not advised them of the time change.
